My wife and I shoot 6.5s with 140 ELDMs going at a blazing 2680. I also shoot the 156 EOL Berger at 2545. Speed means less than zero to us. For context: We started shooting 308 in 2023, bottom of the pack. We ended 2023 in the Top 20 in our State shooting our 6.5s. If we do switch, it will be to the 6mm Gay Tiger.

A really good piece of advice for those who do PRS or any type of reloading is mathematics. It's amazing how many people who can't read decimal places and that is badly needed to be talked about in terms of grains and thousandths of an inch for absolute precision.

I undeserved you dont need the new hot round to start but a flat trajectory is very important for any high angle , moving , small oblique targets or leuphole targets.

This video could not have been more perfectly timed for me. I was lost in the sauce of which small 6mm I wanted. 26in 6BR sounds like my choice for a hassle and worry free performer.

6xc running 115 DTAC's at 2900 fps does fantastic for me and prob 100fps under where i might see an ejector swipe. 4.5 SD with a 9 ES and I'm off to the races.

What do y’all think about 6.5 PRC for PRS? It’s the one I’m currently building and probably my last for a while.
@dougbotha87689 ай бұрын
I’m super new to this. Im looking to build one rifle. I wanna use it for deer/elk hunting. I also want to shoot PRS. I’m thinking 300 Norma is this too much gun for PRS ? Should I focus on building a 6mm to shoot PRS?
@area4199 ай бұрын
If you take "elk" out of this situation, 6.5CM is your best choice in a landslide. Elk makes this a lot more difficult, as I think you would want at least the energy of a 6.5PRC (unless you're in an area where your shots are going to be very close, but that's not common w Elk). Your best option may be a rifle built with multiple barrels and bolts so you could shoot something small for comp and something larger to hunt with. 6GT/6.5PRC is a combo you could see a lot of success with.
@bassfan712 жыл бұрын
I thought 6.5 PRC was the round of choice for PRS as it was commissioned by members of the sport?
@area4192 жыл бұрын
Not at all, you might find a guy or two here and there using it, but it's MUCH less common than the smaller cartridges.

@sf21892 жыл бұрын
6.5 and 6x47 are hugely underrated. Ask your neighbors at SAC.
@maxheadroom90142 жыл бұрын
SHHHH! Jeez, don't tell everyone man - most shooters have forgotten x47 even exists. 6.5x47, 123gr ELD M, slow powder, low-wide node in the ladder (ie 1.0gr wide at around 2780-2820) and you can hold 0.25MOA all day. Easy to see trail and splash. Moderate recoil. >5ft/sec SD, >10ft/sec ES is easily achievable with good reloading.
@sf21892 жыл бұрын
Yup. With a 140g ELD and 2 more inches of barrel I’m getting almost the same velocities as a 6.5cr with all the advantages you mentioned. Such a great cartridge.
