I swapped my friends failed 11yr old Aurora for a Solis , looks a good product and a good price.

My attempts to add extra solar were knocked down by my DNO, and they have told me I need to upgrade to three phase. Hope you can get yours sorted.

Did they provide the detail for that upgrade? bit of an overkill for a few more kw😞
@Jaw0lf6 ай бұрын
@@EVPuzzle Not really they just said it was to do with voltages. They wouldn’t agree to limits either as they take a small time to kick in. So only option is three phase to allow any more panels.

Interesting video Nigel. I am curious about how your existing Victron and Solis inverters work together when both export at the same time. I had been told that you can get "export over voltage" issues caused by each of the inverters trying to raise its export voltage above the current detected voltage. My understanding is that for the inverter to export (assuming a single inverter), it takes a reading from the CT clamp then ensures the voltage it inverts at is above this value (hence ensuring the current flows into the grid). When you get a second (or more inverters) installed, then the second inverter might take a reading and detect this higher voltage (as the first inverter is exporting) and subsequently choose to set its output voltage higher than this. The first inverter repeats its periodic monitoring of the current grid voltage and sets the voltage higher yet again until you hit over voltage conditions (which I think is around 253V on single phase). My understanding on how to avoid this is that there is only one CT clamp and that reading is used by all the inverters (which would make sense if the inverter was the same manufacturer and supported such a feature). Given that you have different manufacturers of inverters, I was wondering how your system handled this situation (or likely I have been mis-informed and this isn't really an issue with modern inverters). Your thoughts?

Everything connects independently so to each solar inverter they only know about it's own state and the AC connection it has . My solar inverters don't monitor the grid or export ....yet.... As we are within our export limit . Yes as you export from 1 device or 4, the voltage has to rise to push the energy out but it's not many volts so unless your grid connection is already at the limit you shouldn't push over said limit If you do go over the inverters should be installed with the right country code setting to they will shut down if the voltage is too high . Voltage level is adjustable on many inverters in the install settings . I have one for example that reads 250v when the others read 248v. I will be adjusting that one to avoid it cutting out too early ....not that I've ever seen it do so even at 258v for moments . Victron has far more settings, monitoring and controls so sees and adjusts much much more . In an ideal world our grid connection would be 230v giving much more head room for solar . I hear there is talk of the grid reducing voltages more over time which will be good .

I’m looking at putting 3kw of solar on my garage to run with my existing 3.5kw on the house. The house system is south facing and the garage would be an east/west, would this inverter but the correct one for me?

You mentioned you are applying to increase your dno approved export limit. Are you doing this yourself or is your solar installer doing it? A video on the process would be really interesting, if you're doing it yourself 👍

Hi Nigel, your videos are very objective and interesting, you're doing a great job, excellent, I like your work a lot, please keep going. I am attracted by your energy independence state with solar and battery working together. I hope more people would have chance to achieve it.👍 Solis is doing very well in the UK market, their team are all professional and responsible for clients, I think they are the most cost-effective inverter brands, and they achieve big success. When I visited SNEC Exhibition in June, Solis booth is the most busy one, a lot of clients there. I like this brand too.🤝 We are building a platform for installers to choose the most suitable and cost effective batteries for their projects, could we have any chance to work together with you for helping British resident achieve energy independence a little bit?😃 I would be very appreciate for your time and your reply. Best regards, Crystal.😊

Export limit what have they told you I just had to do one again for a change of inverter lucky for me they approved it in 2mins seemed like ages the first one I did took 5seconds to approve lol, and this one they didn’t limit me at all they gave me full 12.50kW 😅 few glad they didn’t ask to upgrade to 3 phase I’ve probably pushed there limit now I guess lol
