I just keep changing chokes. It gives an excuse why I missed.

Great advice Russ. It still amazes me the distance we can break targets with even more open chokes. This really quantifies the reality of the distances esp wrt differing angles.

For doubles I've always found light mod and improve mod or 3/8 and 6/8. Work great.

Very interesting, my old 682 has fixed 3/4 and full, I've often thought it would be nice to be able to back the chokes off a bit. Still getting great results though.

I would think your shotgun perfectly choked. It is always better to be on the tighter side and 3/4 for the majority of trap shooters in the world is the ideal for the first shot at around 30 metres. remember in Trap you are often shooting at an "edge on" target where some extra pellets on the clay will certainly help

Funny thing I think is the first and only other time I shot clay pigeons was a year ago and the only shotgun I had was my 12 gauge mossberg police style 20" barrel no threads for chokes ....IMMEDIATELY I was breaking clays about 75% and then I tried a few triples hitting two of three and the last time I got all three. Well I thought it was grand and there was supposed to be a hunting trip so I went down and bought a more appropriate gun....a much longer barreled semi auto with a set of choke tubes....never did go hunting but finally today we did the annual neighborhood skeet shoot....I left the riot gun home and took my new auto...guess what? I hit just ONE clay out of like 50 shots! And I even borrowed other guns in case it was this new one holding me back....I am thinking whatever pattern I got from that 20" was ideal for my total lack of know how lol....somehow lucking out? I don't even know what tube was screwed into this new gun which is why I am on youtube now....oh yeah and I was mostly shooting the same shells both times too even! Just econo walmart universal shells I think #7 shot 2 3/4" if that matters at all? ....

The right choke will no doubt help your %'s.

nearly exact same thing happened to me. shot a standard off the shelf pump with no choke and shot 28 for 32. thought I had some sort of super power for this so went out and got a nice over/under with chokes and went 8 for 32.

Had the exact opposite problem. Went to shoot sporting clays with an 18.5" cylinder bore barrel, and couldn't hit anything that wasn't close up. Another time out I put my 28" barrel with full choke on playing knock out wobble trap with 15 people and won a round.

I started out with modified on a 28" barrel, Mossberg 500 poor man's gun. Just wasn't landing. Patterned the gun and realized there was too much empty real estate at 30-40 yds (where I planned to be picking off clays if on target "early"). Switched to full choke, now up to 18-20 average on 16yd game. I find I rarely miss the hard left and hard right anymore. I miss the straightaway most often. Go figure. I think that is due to my hold point being too low on station 3 and 4?

Best I've ever shot was 112 straight at the police games with both barrels choked full off 15. Not bad for a C Grade hack!!!

It’s all in the mind of you are in the target you’re on the target. Also just some food for thought the tighter the choke the longer the shot string.

For Trap I prefer 7 1/2, but if the targets are soft then a #8. Back on the fence #7

Go to a pattern board... try many different brands of shot shells... see which combination gives you the best pattern. Watch other videos on shotgun patterning.

60/40 or 70/30 bias ideal for most people doing trap sports. Go back to stock shim that comes with sb3 from factory. Follow directions in manual to get desired results.

The only way is to add a rib on top of the existing rib (recommend this) or shave some wood off the comb of the stock

Would like to hear if you’r using steel or lead. In this part of the world, lead is forbidden. On clay’s and hunting. As you know, full choke is not possible with steel.

It is very easy to understand the yardage, in the U.S. 16 yd target are 15 meter International target, the 27 yd are 25 meters. For instance, Olympic completion is all in meters, not yards.
