Choosing The Right Snap Hooks On Fall Protection Connecting Devices

There are a million different terms for what folks call theri snap hooks on their lanyards or SRL's. Big vs little. Snap vs Rebar or pelican hooks. Today we're having a little conversation about whay you might choose one over the other.

Awesome tools for simple roof work too, just clamp on the ladders as you progress. The only downsides are that the fall absorbers, for example a Petzl absorbica adds extra weight + you still have the chance of hitting your knee a bit. Also you need to position the "snaphooks" correctly, which made me get the biggest snaphooks available, so it would fit well and it can be positioned with enough space left to easily remove and deploy, and also so that it doesn't bend the snaphook into an awkward position, which can make them weaker.

Is there brands that have rubber around the hooks to protect from a hook swinging?

is there a proper or improper way to attach a lanyard or SRL snap hook to your dorsal d-ring like toilet paper over the top or under the bottom?

Although you don’t see many people go under and am not sure why you would go that way , I don’t see anything in any instructions that point to that being disallowed. The force on the snap hook shouldn’t change if I’m understanding correctly. Always point to the instructions that come with the unit. Thanks for watching! Holler if we can help.
