A handful of nuggets in this one! Thanks for the info. My old man shoots your K2 fixed blades out of his X-bow and loves them!!

increased speed does not sacrifice penetration, it improves it. Double the weight you double the energy; double the speed and you quadruple the energy.

How do you figure that an aluminum arrow is lighter than carbon?? Very far from true man
@afflictorbroadheads62593 жыл бұрын
Hey Mike. You are 100% correct! That was poorly said on my end and i neglected to clarify my point. All of the aluminum bolts we had there (that didn't make it into the video) were lighter than the carbons we had on hand. That was not meant to be a blanket statement. Thank you for pointing that out!

My dad passed away last fall, I now have his crossbow he bought many years ago. Its well outsdated, but was never used, I thought about taking it out this fall and hunting a bit. Its a Horton HD 150, rated at around 265 fps, I was hoping you could offer a bit of advice pertaining to a bolt/brodhead weight combo? Im a compound bow hunter, so Im not oblivious to arrow technology, but a slower crossbow, I thought may like a carbon arrow to help a bit with speed? Thoughts? Thank you in advance.

The Horton HD 150 was a solid crossbow, but did have a reputation for limb pocket issues and limb cracking. You need to find a bow shop that will give it a good once over for safety. It certainly may need a new string and cables. long term storage actually can leave a pressure mark that weakens things in certain contact places. No matter what bolt you go with you need to be as close to or over the 400 grain total weight mark for that setup. It will need the momentum over the speed. Our 100 grain K2-Fixed Broadhead would be the best choice. Please email me to continue this conversation and we will be happy to help you along your crossbow journey. Thanks! Tacticam camera. the top and side are my mounts for a Tacticam. I am going to just use the ine on the side this year as it seem to have a better field of view.

Let’s not compare crossbows to guns. My crossbow doesn’t use gun powder or is the speed anywhere near a gun….
@afflictorbroadheads6259 Жыл бұрын
We agree. I said it poorly. I wanted to stress the complexity of the crossbow and that crossbows have an appetite for certain bolts and broadhead combinations much like rifles like certain loads and bullets.

..."A crossbow is nothing more than a single-shot rifle that shoots and arrow." ...You totally ruined your video with your asinine statement. Crossbows have been around for centuries before the rifle, and yes, even then, it was a single-shot weapon, but it is no rifle! This just continues to fuel the class wars and division in the Archery World.
@afflictorbroadheads62593 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment Sam. I certainly understand what you are saying. My comment here was not meant to fuel the divide, but highlight the importance of bolt selection in such a precision piece of equipment. That analogy was meant more to compare how your rifle requires certain ammo and so does your modern crossbow. Your concern is valid, and we do work hard here to keep all archers united no matter what type of bow they are shooting.

Haha. Class division. Is our culture so vapid that there are bow snobs and crossbow diehards. It was a throw away comment. This is fueling the war thats raging among bow weapon enthusiasts. How silly. For everyone participating in this.
