The novelisation of Silent Running might be OK, cos at least you wouldn't have to hear the Joan Baez songs. I actually might go for Incubus, because it's by Ray Russell. I liked his earlier novel The Case Against Satan a lot.

I’ve gonna be kind and vote for Fancy-Man because you do seem genuinely excited for that one. In terms of my own “trashy” literature recently I’ve consumed Shaun Hutson’s Slugs, which, surprise surprise, is about a mutant race of flesh-eating garden slugs, and I finally got around to James Herbert’s The Spear, which is about a former Mossad agent turned PI being forced to battle a neo-Nazi cult who have stolen the Holy Lance (which pierced Christ’s side) and who have resurrected through the help of a medium and a horny hermaphrodite the spirit (and corpse) of Heinrich Himmler. The former was not as brutally violent as I would have liked, but the latter was a riot. Also, I can’t help but say: loving that jacket-shirt combo.

I’m curious about Brak. Fancy Man looks trashy but also sounds like cat food. No go. Shadow Light would only be worth reading if it turns out that, no, she can’t save her people. Don’t read The Roo for this purpose. Alan Baxter is usually a very good read; save it for a time you read several of his books and can do a “well, we have some good news and some bad news” video. Panzer Spirit looks very worthy. “It’s like Outpost but not good!”

Looking very spiffy boys, makes me want to groove on to Donna Summer, sultry siren of the dance floor. Accepting your challenge I fed all the pertinent information into the Cheese-o-meter, highlighting subject, aweful covers, fonts, silly titles, in search of the crap factor equation.. I'm affraid the data is in and after numerous calculations .. Roo. There you have it, feistly beasts down under, enjoy.

Love the content, as usual. Actually laughed out loud in this one. My vote is for Edge 2. This is because it continues a series you have started, and we know you are a rare Western fan. Years ago I read Incubus and it is certainly trashy but I did enjoy the book at the time.

I had a bunch of the Edge books at one time, so I have an attachment; they're aggressive in their trashiness. But in general I'd say go for the oldest stuff, because there's the added element of getting an idea of what publishers considered cutting edge. I remember picking up a copy of the Amboy Dukes at a used bookstore and while it was about as threatening as West Side Story, it also felt like a cultural time machine, like listening to old-school jazz.

Let's see...first choice is "The Roo", because it lets me say "You won't 'roo' your decision to read it." "Prophecy", because "The Omen" was pretty good. "Edge 2", because then you can judge if you want to tackle the other 40-odd Edge books. "Rogue Cop", because judging by the price, it's probably the earliest.

I'd go with either the John Jakes or the Gardner Fox books. Fox, for the simple reason that I remember his name from the comic books I read long ago and the Jakes because he wrote the goofy "Mention My Name In Atlantis." You can balance this by reading a story or two from "Flashing Swords." Reprint anthologies are usually pretty good!

I vote for the warriors of Llarn! Because of the beautiful cover. Or the one with the Kangeroo, because that sounds so absurd 😂 ( I also would love to see a kind of a discussion video some day about re-reading. Because i am 50/50 about that. Some books i would love to re-read... but than on the other hand i think... but i have so many books i still need to read for the first time. Just a video idea maybe ;) )

Off topic since voting for just one of those is hard. Thongor lovers may want to know there is a comic called 'The Mighty Barbarians' from Ablaze. It kind of treats a group of barbaric characters as if they were the JLA or Avengers. Off the top of my head Kull and Morgana Le Fey are in the story too. Far from a great comic but I still found it fun.
