Thanks Laurie for your comment. Safety is important. How are you doing so far? Are you carving something these days?

like to keep my fingers cut free, always wear my gloves or guards no matter how uncomfortable. Spent 45 years using knifes and other cutting implements so have suffered a few nasty ones.

Thanks Ian for the comment. Yes cuts belongs to the hobby, but gloves can reduce the damage..

Thank you Vladimir. I enjoy you projects and instructions. You mentioned Doug Linker and I have enjoyed his videos. But the important fact is that it proves that your Number One concern is helping us learn the joy of carving. The one thing you have that Doug does not is your wonderful accent. :-) Also, I am going to start leaving the basswood blank longer so I can use it as a handle. That should also encourage me to wear my glove.

ok i just seen your link and have ordered some of the cut resistant finger protectors . i think i will put a couple of wraps of carvers tape around them though for added protection and longer wear ,as well ass a non slip surface.

I believe you will be satisfied with them. Let me know when you try it. Just bear in mind, it will take maybe 2 weeks to deliver from there. ;)

I've ordered some gloves, before really trying the hobby but it makes sense, I might cut the fingers off the right glove leaving the thumb protected.

enjoyed you video as usual . the slippery gloves i tend to spray the palms and fingers with rubberized spray and seal found at most hardware stores . it stays flexible and gives good grip without any bulk . i do have a question though ,where do you get that bag of kevlar thumb guards you have there . i have been unable to find them in my search on line. i would greatly appreciate your help with that my friend .

add a strip of leather around the thumb guard and it will stay. :) hope this helps!

hi Josh. Thanks for the tip, but how do you make sure the leather stays on the thumb guard? Did you mean to wrap it with tape?
@dynamicphaze3384 жыл бұрын
no, a strip of leather, but that would be fine too.

First time whittling. I've already sliced my thumb open and stabbed my index finger twice. I think I need chainmail.

Well first is good to have something thicker. Once you build control, you wear something thinner.
