CHOPARD ALPINE EAGLE CHRONOGRAPH REVIEW

Finally a hands-on review of this! IMO the Alpine Eagle (and its St. Moritz predecessor) definitely are inspired from the Royal Oak & Nautilus from the 70s, but I think its more than differentiated enough to not be considered an hommage - the screw set up is different from the RO, the dial is rounder than the Nautilus despite the wings on the case, and the bracelet is different from both - plus that eagle eye pattern they do on the dial is just amazing. Really want to get my hands on one of these to try it n the metal, because it's seriously tempting. Great video as always bro!

Great name for a watch, and it is a gorgeous ‘Genta’ style watch. For most, the Nautilus and Royal Oak are completely off the chart as a common sense usable purchase, the Chopard Alpine Eagle more than fits the bill 🏆

I dislike chronographs but after seeing the time and date only version in the shop and this, this looked far better in person and I loved it. The other one looked too plain. I think this looks far better in person than on video and vice-versa for the time and date only version.

I got one just a couple of weeks ago. In terms of comparison to PP (Nautilus) or AP (Royal Oak) or even VC (Overseas), I think it is not fair to compare to the holy trinity. However, it fairs extraordinary well if you compare it to the likes of Hublot (Big Bang or Classic Fusion), IWC (Ingenieur), Zenith (Defy) or even Bvlgari (Octo Finissimo). Clearly Chopard is capitalizing on its expertise as Jewelry maker to present a very well designed and built bracelet and amazing finishing. The dial is amazing. The movement is in house, but they could have opted for a gold rotar to add to its luxurious look.

I like this watch, especially the dial. Besides this watch there are so many other Genta style watches these days, almost every brand has one and i have to say that this one isn't my favorite. If i didn't already own a Bulgari Octo (which is a Genta design and my favorite watch in my collection) i would buy the Cartier Santos with blue dial instead of this one. There is so much more history and prestige behind it. I don't even talk about the ultimate grails Nautilus and Royal Oak because it's impossible to get these at retail :(

I regards of history you are right, I personally like also the genta iwc Ingenieur a lot and IWC confirmed that they will make an re-issue there. And I have really a thing going for the Santos, even though it’s not a genta design it’s for sure a classic. This one I will review by the way in 2 weeks ok my channel 😊

The Octo isn't really a Genta design, although you can argue it has Genta heritage. The current model design was made by Bulgari after purchasing the Genta watch brand. The original Genta Octo looks nothing like the current models. Basically, the current Bulgari Octo is a novel design that had an older Genta model name slapped on to it (with great success).

@@Windmill360 the Bulgari Octo is obviously coming from the Octo Bi-Retro and Octo Quadri-Retro predecessors, which are true Genta designs. The case shape and many other things are still te same. Bulgari made a few logical changes, but the core of the design is still based on the early Genta models. So i don’t agree with you

@@burakgu1 Those models are the ones made by Bulgari's designers after it bought the GG watch company in 2000. Just check their release dates. The original Octo was an eccentric gold dress watch that looked very different. Look up "The Story of Bvlgari and Gerald Genta Watches" on Bulgari website if you want to see the original Octo (as a Grande Sonnerie).

@@Windmill360 Yes, i know but Genta was still involved in the development of the newer Octo models after Bvlgari bought his company in 2000. I het checked the Grande Sonnerie models, but i still see a lot of similarities. The contemporary Octo models still shows lots of Genta DNA imo. Almost all the Genta designs, including the Royal Oak and Nautilus has evolved during the years and none of the original designs remained exactly the same. The truth is that the Octo wouldn’t exist without Gerald Genta

If you want a nautilus you shouldn’t buy a chopard but if you open for a watch which sports a genta ish design and offer fine craftsmanship and an interesting History by its own, well, than you should check it out. The Charme is that not everyone has it, but that’s my perspective
