bravo, tons of info for speeding up figures with a solid well rounded technique. This is helpful for pretty much anything that is fast and continuous. Love the tips on being patient and let the phisiological changes happen. For me I knew this to be true with op 25 no. 12. Took me about 2 months to play it decently. I am confident that I can achieve the same for this one with your tutorial, thanks a lot for so generously making and posting it.

After a space of about 60 years I decided to go back to this etude and also the Revolutionary. I started playing piano professionially when I was 15. To earn money I usually had to play unchallenging music in the theatre or 'lounge' style jazz. There was no time or need to practice. Now I intend to reawaken the skills I left behind. Your tutorial on Etude Op.25 No.2. is so excellent I can now play the right hand and most of the left hand fairly well BUT putting them together is another matter. I need a method for getting this right. It all falls apart after a few bars. What I need is advice as to how to get this polyrhythmic problem solved. By the way I am 80 years old, probably your oldest fan!

Thanks so much, so glad to hear the exercises have been helping. And how great that you are dedicating your time to piano playing now in your life, very inspiring! As to putting both hands together, I would suggest practicing slowly of course and also in sections at a faster tempo. So for example, take half bar sections, and practice them until you feel confident, then start practicing one bar sections, then 2 bar sections and so on. All the best with the study!

I love this. Can I ask, is it a big disadvantage if you’re left handed? Even after all these years my right hand is still slower vs the left. Thank you so much. I love your videos and never tire of listening to you and your playing. Such a gift!!!!
3 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t say that it is a disadvantage at all, I know many amazing left handed pianists and you get to play great virtuoso accompaniment figures in the left hand. I think you just have to probably spend a bit more time training the right hand than a right-handed person. Thanks so much for watching 🙏🏻

Awesome video! I had no idea Op.10 No.1 was supposed to be on the harder spectrum, no wonder it's taking me months and I'm still having a hard time. I guess this means it's way above my skill level. In what order do you recommend to learn the Etudes? Should I also abandon 10-1 and work on something more appropriate instead?
3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! I would say that op. 25 no. 1 and 2 are good beginner etudes when getting into the Chopin studies. For the left hand, I would recommend op. 10 no. 9. Op. 10 no. 1 is definitely not one of the easy ones, at the same time, I wouldn‘t suggest stopping it altogether, but rather just doing the exercises at your speed on a regular basis. That way, you will be able to play it in a year or two as your technique grows. It just isn‘t one of the studies you can learn immediately and in a short period of time, in my opinion. Have fun with it! :)

Hello dear Danae , I haven't searched this level yey but I know this vedio will be helpful cause I will study this maybe in some years. But my question is apart from the Czerny hanon kullak etudes u did do a vedio. Do u feel Heller's op 45 , steibelts op 78 , cramer and Clementi useful?? At technique . Also i wish to do Hummels op 125 ( it's from where Chopin got his etudes from ( ain't a rumor)) I future.
3 жыл бұрын
Sounds great! I personally have studied only Heller and Clementi which I also found very useful. And Hummels is very virtuoso, so you can definitely learn a lot of technique from that. :) Thanks for watching 🙏🏻

Thank you for sharing! However, I've been playing this etude for 2 years, tried all exercises, changed fingerings mny times, and I still can't play it on pace :( I feel like only some people in this world are able to play this at speed. I literally don't know what to do :'(
3 жыл бұрын
In my experience, what helps in situations like these is to very very gradually increase the tempo from rather slow to end speed. Spend a week or so with a slower tempo until you feel very comfortable with it, then increase it by only one metronome line and spend a week with this new tempo. Continue doing that until you reach the final tempo. I find that this process usually works very well as it gives muscles and brain time to process every note in the new tempo. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching! 🙏🏻

Update: actually I've tried playing slower, and you're absolutely right, this made my fingers and brain process every note more deliberately than before which I lacked and rushed, I also curved my fingers more, and that seems to bring clarity, lightness and more evenness! Very positive results after years of struggle! I think now what I lack is the emotions, the right pedaling, and the correct phrasing (especially the diminished chord part). Any insight if possible? Thank you again for helping, you are very kind and supportive!
@UltraLeetJ
@UltraLeetJ 3 жыл бұрын
@@pianoforte17xx48 practice arpeggios as chords. Group everything you can and play it, even if its two notes at a time. I promise if you group say, thhat diminished arpegio and play it grouped for 5 eternal, torturing minutes, the moment you go back to try it as an arpeggio it will become MUCH easier. As I telll my students, we have gone to infinite speed when blocking that arpeggio, now the hard part is to slow down :) . Pedaling and emotion are more intuitive and easier to solve, so hear many recordings and take note. Good luck!

We don't feel the 2 against 3 between the two hands. You play it like a 6 / 8. You should practice it with 4 half notes (one and two together) at the left hand instead of 6 notes. Practice it as fast as you can with precise accents at the beginning of the triplets then and only then put the 6 notes at the left hand. Rare are pianists who play it the right way. This makes this study a real challenge.
