As a classical pianist since childhood, this has always been one of my favorite pieces. Now that I'm 40, it's still as beautiful and captivating as it was. This performance makes me wonder if I ever did it justice as a child though :)

Ehrlich gesagt ist ihre Interpretation nicht schlecht. Die Dynamik, die Triller, die Tempi... alles auf ihre eigene Art und Weise sehr stimmig. Gibt auch Passagen, an welchen sie auch Kraftvoll wird; bei diesem und allgemein allen anderen Nocturnes von Chopin sollte eh nie übertrieben werden, was beispielsweise oft der Fall in Op.72 Nr. 1 o.Ä. oft der Fall ist. Nichtsdestotrotz ist ihr Ende etwas zuuu tiefenentspannt 😂

Great technique but the interpretation seemed exaggerated and obtuse. As a comparison watch Valenina Lisitsa play it - it's on KZbin (she plays it as a third encore).

I actually think this is the best performance of this piece on KZbin . I did actually watch Lise de la Salle perform Rach 2 at the weekend, it was incredible. She's absolutley wonderful and so expressive, which is what I like; if you prefer stricter faster tempos then fair play. I prefer it a bit slower and more expressive. Personal taste I suppose.

@@weissrw1 Haha, I also struggle to enjoy others once I have a favourite 😂. It might also be to do with the fact I play it more like Lise and Tiffany Poon's interpretations. I can play quite expressively so I try to bring that out. It's a lovely piece as long as it's played to a certain level of competence. It's incredibly hard to get right

BTW, seriously, I play the piece as largely a melancholy introspection (day dream?) with the pastural section in the middle reaching back to the warmth of youth. Lisitsa seems to capture that idea. So I was very receptive to it. My technical skills are right on the edge, but my wife likes it a lot. In a couple of months I will own it!
