Guitar transcriptions and their renditions are often disappointing. Many times there is a lack of melodic continuity (the cantabile), lack of tonal depth and a fragile sense of structure, beside having problems in recognizing the original piece in its form and expressive goals. This is a marvelous example of how to put the guitar in the best possible light. Superb musicianship, fine artistry and a perfect proof that old transcriptions still work, if played accordingly. Congratulations, Lorenzo!

Classical guitar usually shines brightest in pieces that were written for it. In that case, you get a sense of intimacy that not a lot of instruments offer. It is a gem finding a good transcription

classical guitar is a quiet instrument. and if you listen to recordings of maestros playing piano, you can often hear pianists like pollini and zimerman breathing and even singing along. get used to it.
