Agreed. Was an immediate eye sore in the mits alloy section of video. Too tall and certainly too wide where the patrol starts to taper in. Roof rack made it bit better but it's still terrible. Great canopy, just a shame it doesn't suit the vehicle.

Nice rig graham. The lads at dmw really appear to go the extra mile on the finishing touches, the quality of their work really shines through. Your 1st trip obviously has to be fairly local just in case but you should do a solo coast to coast run on your ecomuse channel once youve got the y62 decked out & dialled in. What would I do first, getting that awning on is pretty much all I would do to it. Doesn't look like anything else needs doing, maybe some tint on the windows. The only thing I picked up on was the cover for the rear drawer could be one that when you removed it you can hitch it over the drawer and use it as an extra bench for tools. Otherwise, its good to go. When I win the lotto guys, I am next in line to do this same build.

Awesome. The best bit was you getting the toyota emblem. As a proud owner of a new [to me] 2020 Nissan Frontier, I feel your pain. I'm about to go out on a trip with 3 other guys...all with Toyotas. I guess the first thing you should get sorted is the in-canopy electrical system. So then you can run lights, the fridge, and a travel oven like Jocko just put in the Ponylux. Then you're ready to go. Yuu can bring a portable stove for cooking, food/drink in the cooler, chuck in your swag and clothes bag and you're off to the bush. You really only need power, food, and shelter for camping. Everything else is just superfluous. That becomes 'glamping' as they call it here in the USA. OH, well, maybe throw in some simple recovery gear, but if you keep the solo trip simple and safe, you could even forego that most likely.

That’s a blimmen sweet rig Graham. Interested to know what the expected total weight of the big girl will end up being, say for a two week touring trip? I guess why I’m asking is that these newer rigs just seem to be getting more and more monstrous, meaning more wear and tear, more power, more fuel, more damage to trails etc. Trust me, I get the desire and appeal. But really interested to hear from others too about what they think a sweet spot is for a week-long touring rig that’s somewhere in between the Pony-lux (no frills style) and monster rigs like the Y62 and 200. Regardless, your excitement is infectious and that’s so awesome - that’s what’s it’s about hey?! Cheers and enjoy the big girl!

Love the new ride graham! DMW and Mits have killed it for the build. Couple of eye for detail criticisms I would change.. DMW- the silver rivets that hold the carpet down in the back of the cab would look better maybe black. Just makes it a bit more seamless. Mits- the switch for the tap. Just looks a bit outdated and may be prone to breaking if going over a big rock step maybe?. If I were them (mind you the work is exceptional and I’d go a mits canopy any day of the week) I’d maybe recess the switch a bit to protect it a bit. Other than those 2 items the vehicle is a total weapon!

Front and rear diff drops.. look after the driveshaft angles.. maybe remove the rear diff bracket as you'll possibly catch everything on it. Front E locker. Flares for the front wheel poke. A good bottle jack to lift this beast. That's just the start.

Dual rear camera setup, one up high and one over the tow ball makes a big difference.
