I work for a farm in NW Sumner County in South Central Kansas near the town of Conway Springs. They bag corn silage and alfalfa silage and this past fall, they hired a dairy that owns a Claas Jaguar self propelled chopper and they cut 4 bags of silage. The farm I work for had irrigated corn that was cut for grain with a John Deere 9660 STS and a John Deere 893 manuel adjust deck plate corn head. I ran their grain cart with a John Deere 8120 with tinted windows and the grain cart was an A&L F705, 700 bushel cart. The irrigation made 195 bu/ac, and there was about 10-12 acres of dryland corn that wasn't chopped. That corn yielded 129 bu/ac.

Great Video Mike, I can't help compare our systems here in NZ, with your USA systems, ours are largely grass based, with a small amount of maize silage, cows are mainly out in the paddock for 365 days of the year, I recall the largest farm I milked on which was 500 cows in two herds, one paddock got a bit messed up the boss disappeared for an hour with a bag of grass seed, 2 rounds later the paddock was back in the rotation, thanks for sharing

I have been by that farm a quite a bit the last few years on my way to Bunker Hill Shootout where they have truck and tractor pulls in the summer. I am pretty sure that their 9630 and some of their other equipment helps prep the pulling track which is about a mile from that farm. The last time that I was by there was in July on my way home from Millersburg Ohio as I went by Royer Farms right before Martig Farms on purpose as they are both really nice dairy farms!

Hi Mike, I've been subed for a while now and was wondering what drone you have, I have a Mavic2 zoom myself. Maybe a video on your equipment would be cool. I'll bet a "Safari" outfit with misquito mesh would be nice when your getting pelted with the silage while taking those shots :)

What is the advantage of injecting the manure vs just spread it on the surface? This is flat ground…after rain the manure nutrients will..go down anyway… Can you explain this ?
