A new silo would go a long way to reduce the plastic use on your farm. A silo would pay for itself in no time when you compare it to plastic.
@ourfarmstoryАй бұрын
Another silo would be amazing and would definitely be more cost-effective than ag bags and baleage bales. But making the jump to be able to buy the silo and have a good spot for it is the hard part.
@rk3739Ай бұрын
@@ourfarmstory your farm probably spends close to 10k on plastic every summer. A new 20x70 silo which would double your feed storage would cost 120k with silo unloader and conveyor. Finance it for 10 or so years and it would not cost much more a year to put up a silo than what you spend on an ag bag every year. As for putting it up and where to put it. Put it up near your current silo with a new barn in mind and build a new barn when that time comes. It’s probably unlikely you’ll be taking down those current silo since you like towers.

Quite the skilled driving by that one tractor operator at the beginning of the video!
@ourfarmstoryАй бұрын
It's pretty neat to see he definitely does that more often.

Never seen a field opened up like this. But hey do it the way you like

It"s clear, from the start that this farmer is of Polish descent.

Close were all Dutch from friesland originally.

Quite a bit different than the way you guys do it
@ourfarmstoryАй бұрын
Definitely different. Was neat to see.

I help out on a neighboring dairy farm and the do it basically the same way but put it in an ag bag

Great awesome video, they wont take long , love the pull type way more though, we have a self propelled now
@ourfarmstoryАй бұрын
Neat to see bigger equipment. I like our pull type more than the self propelled to. Can unhook the harvester tractor and use it for somthing else during the winter. Fortunately, we aren't anywhere close to needing a self-propelled.

I tried to watch and subscribe but the horrible music turned me away.
@ourfarmstoryАй бұрын
Unfortunate. Do you have any suggestions for music?
@russellhixson1692Ай бұрын
@@ourfarmstory I’m guessing most of the viewers are going to be older folks like I am who grew up on the farm but had different careers and are retired now. Might not be the music might be you need more talking content. If I was you I’d study Sonne Farms and maybe follow that path. My opinion the best farming posts.

@russellhixson1692 Good to know! Thanks for the feedback!

@@ourfarmstory maybe reach out to Sonne Farms for some advice. The young seems to be very kind and down to earth. I’ll continue to subscribe and support you. I love a dairy farm.
