When you blow a hole in the thin metal, it makes me smile, because I realize that I am not the only one on the planet that does that. I am working on my 19 ‘51 Willys wagon, but I am laid up from a surgery for six weeks. Your channel is helping me get through this. And thank you for the language lessons. Lekker boet.

Great video! I'm from Wisconsin, USA. Due to the climate salt has been used to melt snow and ice on the winter roads back to the 50s. No shortage of rust. This makes welding patch panels real interesting. Chasing holes sucks! But, " it's only metal"! I'm in the middle of repairing the front lip on my 1964 F100. What a mess!:( There is enough solid material to establish the original shape but when I started cutting out the bad, the stresses in the curved shape wants to go back straight!! That's what keeps me up at night! Thanks
@ratrodsafrica2 жыл бұрын
Hello John from Wisconsin! That salt must be a real killer! Yes, cutting out rust and finding decent metal for welding can be a real challenge. Good luck with the job!

2:02 Do you think the handle weight might cause the latch to rotate down do to vibration when you drive it ?

I think the spring creates enough friction to prevent that but we will find out down the line😅
@RichieCat42232 жыл бұрын

I like the latch idea too, but as well my concern would be security with vibrations. I might have made so you have to pull up on the handle to release rather than down. I was also thinking that maybe the latches from the Nissan might have been utilized in the chev doors. But all in all I really enjoy the build and learning from you, so a big thank you to you.

Another great vid!!!!!! I like how you are showing that a average Joe could do this if he puts his mind to it. A lot of these other guys tell you that you have to measure 1523 times and do 25 geometry equations and blah, blah, blah. I really appreciate you taking us through your processes. Do you think your door handle will stay put on rough bumpy roads? I have a fix in mind, but can’t explain it. Since you have the spring, my idea would work, I think. Kind of a latch for the handle. Keep up the great work. You know you always get 👍🏻 👍🏻 from Texas. Oh. Can you spell todays new words? I’d like to use them here.
@ratrodsafrica2 жыл бұрын
Lekka boet! (cool bro)😅 Yes man, no black magic or "look how good I am..." just some common sense, persistence, practice. I think the handle will stay put. That spring works well and more tension can be applied by simply tightening the nut a little more. Thanks for those Texas thumbs!

Your cutting disc is on the wrong way round, the writing want to be facing up as it's designed to work that way, otherwise you got end up with the disc shattering.
@ratrodsafrica2 жыл бұрын
Huge point of controversy this one. But if you really want to dig deep, its got nothing to do with the label or the writing. Its about the center metal inserts on the disc and whether it is fitted on both sides or just one side
