This man andhis method of teaching are more than awesome. I am not a musician /singer in anyway, but I listen intently to the instructors and instructions. I have found quite a few that interest me and in my opinion they are good but Dr Hales' teaching, his attitude, demeanor, approach to teaching are outstanding. I can listen over and over. Each time it's more enjoyable that I even practice too because of how much I love music. Thank you .
@stephenhosking73845 жыл бұрын
If you love music and singing then I I strongly recommend that you take lessons. It is a very common misconception that you are either born with a good choice of not. On the contrary singing is taught just like any other instrument. In person lessons are most effective but if you can't afford the time or money then try working with a KZbin program.
@goldaganeshdin22695 жыл бұрын
Thank you Steven, I grew around music but sadly where I am from there weren't many teachers and my parents couldn't afford. Now in my 40s I don't think I 'd want to try. Just that when I listen to the teachers I sometimes get carried away and don't realise I'm doing it . Sometimes I just go along as it's natural for me to hum/sing while doing chores.

As I youth in Wheeling WV, I studied under Jack Randolf (church chior) and Dr. Harold Wiesner (classical choir). You are VERY good. As also a vocalist and audio engineer, you are hitting all the bases. Diaphragm, larynx, vocal resonance via mouth and nasal... and training the head upward, and the vowel pronunciations. That is fairly complete. I love what I hear in this video. Very, very well controlled and vocally articulated. Wish I'd have had you as an instructor. I'm now 65 considering returning to solo or choir... I will use your techniques if I pursue vocal performance in my church. Thanks so much. Love your choir. The resonance and harmonics are absolutely perfect.

I am taking singing lessons, finally, after many years of singing in choirs of all performance levels, many with excellent warmups such as this. Except for a few notes, my singing has always been "breathy" and small. Now I am learning to NOT drop my chin but to keep a relaxed tongue and sing all vowels close to an "e" or "u" position, directing my breath to the front of my face ("mustache line" to mid-nose). (My teacher, a professional opera singer, says that chin-dropping is often done in choirs.) This re-learning of how to sing is, week by week resulting in much more volume - there is less escaping air. I should have had a professional listen to ME individually and coach me, years ago! I like using Dr. Hale's warmup, but I ignore the visual of his chin-dropping... does not work for ME!

This is great. With huge respect to the two vocal coaches that i've had in my life, this video make much more sense to me. Maybe concepts were more difficult to me - I don't know... It was recommended to me in years gone by to imagine reaching over a fence, in my mind, when warming up and performing. That made little sense to me. Now, this video makes some much more sense, going through pragmatic steps to me; particularly with the center of balance of the spine in relation to the head, body, shoulders, etc. Love it.
