Hey gang! When I said "This was before Guns-n-Roses" during Piece Of The Pie - I was wrong. I was thinking of the album Midnite Dynamite and not Blow My Fuse. Appetite hits the streets in 1987 and Blow My Fuse was 1988, but I think the vibe/flavor is just a coincidence. Anyway, my bad. My mouth gets me in trouble sometimes. : )

Kix was unique. _Midnite Dynamite_ was such a bombshell (pun intended). Great riffage, great dual guitar interplay, great hooks, great singing, great songwriting.

Kix were so ahead of the crowd…even when they first started out, they put on a SHOW…Steve Whiteman would fill a bucket with water and throw it at the audience, but confetti would come out…growing up in Baltimore, we got to see Kix quite a lot…absolutely fantastic 👍

Now were talkin! The intro tone on "Blow my Fuse" is my most sought after tone. I got it pretty close. Thanks B🐓! There clearly needs to be a Part 2 to this chordplay.

Lived in Germantown in 85/86 used to drive down to Hagerstown for guitar lessons. These guys would be at the store hanging out impromptu jamming/answering questions frequently. Great band. Great video.🤘

This is why David is the best. I was listening to Kix the other day and boom a video! I've been on a hair metal kick lately and a lot of the guitat players from the 1980s were pretty damn good if you go back and listen. Thx David

Hey what's up man this is pretty cool to see I'm from Pasadena Maryland right outside of Baltimore these dudes maybe my favorite hair band. Plus they are from my home town sort of. I know you like tele's, this dude has a great telecaster tone. Anyways cant wait to check this out. They just played their final show last weekend here in Maryland. Anyone who liked rock music that was between 35 and 65 was there. Cheers man have a good one

"Be Vewy Vewy quiet, I huntin', Woman huntin'." I was a freshman in college when the first album came out. I used to play Yeah, Yeah, Yeah on my weekly radio show on the college radio station. Other DJ's heard me playing it and picked it up for their shows. Kix sold pretty well for a nowhere college town in Michigan.... "and she threw up again." LOL. Great stuff.

Great lesson…and tribute! I’m also a huge fan of thunderously loud ringing chords. Thin Lizzy’s ‘The Boys Are Back In Town’ is a prime example. Love that song, mostly for that very reason.

Hi Dave. Great lesson. Kix is just about unknown to me but not anymore. I like what ya said at the end there. It's about cool chordplay not hit's.[not that hit's are bad]. Never too early to say Happy Happoween and thanks for the late night lessons. A student can't go wrong with Dave Brewster. Rock on! bye for now

KIX was the greatest band that Maryland produced. They started out called The Generators, but later decided to change their name. There was this place called Hammerjacks in Baltimore Maryland. KIX played there all the time. Always sold out. KIX blew everyone away with their live shows. Happy retirement to one of the best bands that most of you all don't know about.

Wow. I just remembered. It was 1977 Jeppson stadium Houston. The show was Ted Nugent with special guests (opening acts) Kix and Foreigner. Foreigner got a real favorable reception as a new band with one new hit on the radio. Kix was pretty good but obviously over-shadowed by Foreigner and Nugent.

Kix were incredible and should have been so much bigger... their first five albums litterally kill !!! One hidden gem from their second album : "Love pollution". Btw, I've got all Kix albums on vinyl.... precious stuff 🙂

Btw, a suggestion : how about a Dio-era Sabbath Chordplay ?!?! There are so much amazing gems ("Neon knights", "Mob rules", "Voodoo", "Children of the sea", "Lonely is the word", "Turn up the night" just to name a few). And how about a Ted Nugent Chordplay (maybe you've already done it... can't recall) ?

I saw Kix in '89 with Britny Fox, opening for Ratt... in West Virginia. Ratt were... not at their best, Britny Fox's singer (in lace cuffs and foppish finery) tried to pick a fight with someone in the audience who threw a piece of a chair at the stage before starting their ballad... Kix totally stole the show, blew everybody else off the stage. ❤

I saw Great White with Tesla opening and special guest Kix back in the day. Kix and Tesla blew Great White off the stage. I didn't get into Kix until Blow My Fuse like a lot of people did. When I saw them, it was the last night of the tour for them and they just burned it down onstage. They were fun and just rockin' .. then you bring out Tesla who was a little more serious but hella rockin' and then poor Great White. They were definitely a lot more chill, and kinda boring in comparison, when they came out.
