Karin was amazing on stage, every time she came out the audience straightened up cause you knew you would see something strong and marvelous

@@pedinurse1 Absolutely. She was extraorinary, unique. After she retired, Martins cast Darci Kistler as the Siren. She is a lovely dancer, but no. That was the first time I heard an audience giggle during Prodigal. I felt for her, but she seemed so slight, not at all with the monstrous, serpentine sensuality of Aroldingen, and in fact, that was one of B's earliest directions for the Siren, to be a serpent.

too bad about the dated, hokey,6th grade costuming and sets. I was going to buy a dvd but thanks to being able to see this , I'm not going to buy it.

This is one of the rare Ballets that Balanchine kept the costumes and scenery (by Roualt, by the way, not some 6th grader). Apollo originally had elaborate costumes and set, and now it's stripped to almost total bareness.
