What a great performance! There is a famous essay writen by a Chinese author whose name is Bing Xin(literally translate as Ice Heart). Her compliment on Kamala's live dance show in 1950s was learned by every Chinese pupil from generation to generation till now. When I was around 10 years old after reading her essay, I've no idea about what kind of dance will make a person get so excited. This video make me understand that chill. I also share this to some aunts who are at their 50s 60s. They have that same feelings too. One look is worth a thousand words. Kamala shows us what an excellent Indian dancer can convey through hands feet movement as well as face expression

Well, to be honest, I have no idea what a thillana even is. I just got the title from the listing at the HindiGeetMala site's page on the Chori Chori songs: www.hindigeetmala.net/movie/chori_chori.htm I included it because it's Kamala Lakshman ( Kumari Kamala, Kamala Laxman) in one of her best known performances

As far as I remember, before this there was another video of this dance performance on your channel where you stated that this is Bharatnatyam by Kumari Kamala however this video is titled 'Thillanna' so I thought that you might know (or someone informed you) that this 'Thillanna'.

You've a good memory. Yes, I used to have this same dance earlier, before I removed all copyrighted videos from this channel about nine months ago. Since then, though, Chori Chori and all its songs have gone out of copyright. So, I've created a better version and reuploaded it.

Today only I have heard this thillana song in Carnatic music in the film Chori Chori.Whether SJ ,the MD of this film composed this song or some other South Indian? Whoever be it is super.Though I had seen the film some 46 years back in a theatre at Madras,this song sequence was not shown.Many thanks for uploading!

It was composed by Padmashri KN Dandayuda Pani Pillai who also choreographed the dance sequence in the movie.
