I feel you. There's this girl at my neighborhood grocery store that has been checking me out for months, and I finally approached her today. It went the same way I expected. She was shy and couldn't hold eye contact, which in turn made me a bit awkward. Once on a date a girl told me I'm handsome but "intimidating" and she'd never approach me in person (met her through a dating app). It's unfortunate because this girl at the store looks reserved and we had a similar music taste but she rejected me when I offered my number.

My awakening was in 2020. I fell completely in love with a narcissistic sociopath. As I healed, I found out all my friends of 30 years I grew up with had been betraying me and fucking me over the whole time. My life is vastly different within those 3 years. I only trust myself and my intuition now. It has never been wrong, and I got badly screwed every single time I ignored it. The gut check was so strong I almost threw up the first time I walked into her bedroom. It felt like a series of near misses kept me on that path until I completely experienced it, and it burned me down to nothing, I crawled out and rebuilt myself. Still have a lot of healing and such to do. Been quitting addictions I've had my whole life these last couple years. I also look 28 at 44. Every single person comments on it. I used to think it was flattery, but now it's annoying as hell.
