I never ever thought I would walk away. I know they never thought I would ever walk away. Sometimes though the pain and the mental anguish they caused is so horrible and shatters your soul so completely that one has to crawl away and try and heal, alone. Sadly, when the healing happens, the feelings for them are gone and cannot be resurrected. Time has a way of letting you stand back and see just how cruel their actions were. It’s hard to admit to yourself when you love someone that they just didn’t love you back and in fact may have actually hated you for their own various reasons. The memories are like a beautiful fire that from a distance might be mesmerizing to watch but in your soul, you absolutely know from experience never ever to get too close again.
