Mr. Satyasundar Bose, Shankar's co-worker and receptionist, is portrayed as friendly, benevolent, and respected. He and Ms. Sujata Mitra, an air hostess, marry. Sata resigns from his job to find a better living, while Sujata resigns as married women cannot work as air hostesses. Both resign tragically.

আমি এই নিয়ে চারবার বইটা পড়েছি। প্রতিবারই একই রকম মুগ্ধতা নিয়ে পড়ি। বইয়ে আরো অনেক খুঁটিনাটি আছে, সবকিছু তো সিনেমার পর্দায় আনা সম্ভব নয়, তারপরও সিনেমাটাও ভালো লেগেছে। যারা বইটা পড়েননি, একবার পড়ে দেখেন।

The tragic romance of suicide was heart breaking 💔 Sad that both characters of Uttam Kumar and Biswajit could not have happy endings in their love romance! 😥 The film highlights some of the false immoral values of high society in the form of Biswajit's mother having clandestine affairs and accusing the airhostess of being cheap!
