THE ODD COUPLE - Chris Broussard & Rob Parker react to Steph Curry boldly proclaiming he should be MVP. It gets tougher to argue as he continues to go on these large scoring runs however, Chris and Rob still don't think he's fit to wear the crown. However, Chris and Rob split when it comes to Curry daring to say he should be MVP...

@Matt-cr4vv
@Matt-cr4vv Жыл бұрын
I get it that journalists want these guys to push and ask the tough questions and that should be the way they feel because that’s the aim of a skilled journalist. Journalists are supposed to seek the truth about whatever their topic happens to be even if they’re disliked or criticized over it. But obviously the athletes who get put in a tough spot or have conflicts that stem from something written about them or something somebody asked them and they looked bad because of a non-answer or giving an answer that isn’t popular won’t be admirers of the media or seek out the media more than they have to interact with the media. Naturally you’d expect current or former professional athletes who put out an interview of some kind with another athlete to not do things the same way as many journalists would. An athlete is generally going to make an effort to avoid the things that they didn’t like the media doing with them, which goes to figure they won’t be really aggressively challenging guys in the same way esoecially if those guys happen to be friends. I get the frustration with that but I also recognize those convos for what they are and don’t really expect differently from it. In theory I think it would be cool if you saw athletes adopt that journalist drive and attitude of challenging guys but I accept the reality that it’s probably overly idealistic to see that happen. Even athlete media guys who I have seen throw out some pretty objective takes but takes that hold guys accountable rather than protect their feelings get pretty negative response from current athletes who feel like that person as a former athlete who knows the athletes mindset should operate in their roles differently since they know the negative feelings or perception that can result if they don’t in a sense coddle the current guys. So that’s a tough balance and a choice that they’ll eventually have to make as to whether they want to be a true blue journalist in a sense or be a relationship guy who strives to coddle their fellow athletes even if it lowers the integrity of their content.

@Matt-cr4vv
@Matt-cr4vv Жыл бұрын
Depends on what you want out of the interaction I think. If you want the person pushing for the hard truths then I’d prefer a journalist, especially if it’s somebody who needs to be held accountable by somebody. Like if a Ben Simmons had a talk with somebody and I wanted somebody to try and get information about why he did the things he did I’d want a journalist. I don’t think he’d be honest with the journalist but the journalist would push back at a non answer or a BS answer to try and get the truth. I think even if you don’t get it there’s value in at lest pushing back on something. I don’t think that happens in an athlete to athlete interaction most of the time. But if I want a positive interaction that flows well and is entertaining then I want it to be with another athlete because the comfort level allows that to happen. So for me both have their place depending on your desired outcome.

It was historic and he had several 50 point games with that and had 4 of 5 games where he hit 10+ threes which is insane. He is many people’s mvp. He has been top 5 in scoring all year long btw.. he didn’t just have a hit streak and it was he only highlight of his season. He’s passed his previous 2013 career high of 54 twice this season with 62 & 57 and almost tied it vs Nuggets with 53. How can he lead this team to the playoffs when they can’t make wide open layups in crunch time, Nobody is consistent in scoring game in game out, his 2nd best teammate Draymond can’t even score the damn ball, he has Kevon Looney as his main big man, he has g league players and rookies disguised as starters, he’s double and triple teamed and teammates can’t carry the load most nights. Rob is right tho, Steph Curry is the author of the biggest choke job in NBA Finals history...maybe NBA history. 73win team, up 3-1 and lost. Still a HOFer, but that has to go on his resume along with all the accolades just like LeBron's 4th qtr meltdown against Dallas, or Jordan's turnovers late in the game against the Magic in his Playoff comeback from retirement.

It’s really should be called narrative award because best player on best team is still a team award so really how is that really the most valuable player? And why Donovan Mitchell or cp3 can’t get the award when they fit the rules perfect but then you can’t give it to the actual best player or even giannis again because of last years playoffs the media actually fucked the award up in my opinion so basically if you’re the actual best player or actually the most needed player which is value but your team isn’t as good as others you’re not the mvp but then when you’re the best player on best team but name isn’t as big you can’t win it the media actually is killing the sport it’s not the players it’s the actual media that turn people away from the game and it’s sad all the friendship based awards or friendship based hate and bias from a bunch of dudes that went to school to be worst at something that the actual players are better at which is sad in itself who wants to root for a team when they always twisting up facts and making casual watchers hate the era that’s playing now when you know the past era was weaker especially the ones like me that seen both it’s sad smhis

Putting the MVP aside, I truly believe that sports journalists such as Rob, Max and Skip are looking for some reaction from Steph to make the headlines. They dont have the same energy for other superstars because they fire right back at them...They praise Russ, Harden and the Dames who have achieved less and barely speak on their failures in the post season and all of that. Look how Russ took the heat off of him...He went at Stephen A and created a different narrative...You would think that Steph is scrub listening to how these journalists speak on him and his career overall. Steph is easy to pick on because he lacks the aggression that the other guys have, this man can't catch a break at all.

this is how bad curry is. Having a historical stretch, people be like “wow that’s nice”. Then he has one bad game, people be like “he doesn’t deserve this, he doesn’t deserve that”. This team literally trash, I mean TRASH, when Steph is not playing or not playing well. I mean just look at the last missed layup by Wiggins. Seriously?

@@fullmetal1766 whatever scenario you want to put Lebrons Lakers had better record than Stephs warriors which are under 500. When he got injured they were 20-14 with a new team with bunch of kids who are now better than they where then and they still stink with the Pelicans. Those kids were 20-14 with a healthy Lebron. Steph is having an amazing run truly amazing but the Warriors are under 500 so is not real that the warriors are better than the Lakers with Lebron. If you want to count what happened after the injury well then they still were over 500 with him as you point out. What Steph is doing is remarkable no doubt
