I never realized how much statcast loved him. It’s interesting that he ended up being terrible with the Yankees considering how well he hit the ball in 2016.
@nomorefielders3 жыл бұрын
My theory is that his confidence was shredded after being released and there is a real pressure about playing for the Yankees so he was definitely pressing a little bit. Honestly I could’ve seen a team like the Dodgers or Rays pick him up to be a really effective platoon player.

I did experiment with trying to find the player with the least WAR/HR but it is crazy the amount of one dimensional power hitters (AKA Adam Dunns) were around during that time.

We should bring in the fences 10% closer. Lower the mound to completely flat and back it up to 70 feet, let the hitters use metal bats, and make the pitchers throw gold balls. That way K’s and HR’s are really the only two possibilities.

I watch his highlights all the time in terms of his home runs, he has some of the most entertaining MOONSHOTS you'll ever see! I would not be surprised if he could hit over 500 feet. I was also amazed he was NOT in the HR Derby! He would've been so darn entertaining! Watch his home runs vs San Diego, and when he was an Astro himself, he hit's a GUNSHOT against the Mariners that leaves me in awe to this day. This dude was scary, how this dude didn't get picked up or re-signed for like 1 more year with the Brewers was always beyond me, because Thames honestly wasn't much better, and, at least imo, I thought Thames was WORSE defensive wise! We had to replace him in his 2nd year with Jesus Aguilar and Aguilar was really good for only 1 year too! Brewers are cursed with 1st basemen right now! I miss the dude honestly, his swing is so violent yet pretty!

Have you looked at his career stats? He's like prime Joey Gallo, but with a lower avg/obp/slg, more strikeouts, and no defensive abilities.

You need to do a video on Dave Kingman's 1982 season for the Mets.. Led the national league in home runs.. hit .204 for the season.. fWAR -0.5.. 37 Home Runs, 9 doubles, 1 triple. 47 extra base hits for the season. IMHO the worst season by a player to lead his league in home runs. He's also the only player to play for, and hit home runs for, a team in every division at the time in one season. In 1977, he played for the Mets (NL East) Padres (NL West) Angels (AL West) and Yankees (AL East). There were no central divisions at the time. He was the first guy to hit 400 home runs and get dropped from the Hall of Fame ballot in his first year of eligibility. He got 3 votes.

I really liked Chris Carter in his one year with the Brewers. He helped them be a better than expected team in 2016. Brewers were thought of as arguably the worst team in baseball going into that year but they instead went 73-89, led the league in one-run losses, and gave the eventual champion Cubs serious fits throughout the season. Carter was a big part of that.

I coached him as a kid when he was on my little brother's travelling ball team. He was 2 years younger than anyone on his team, and was still one of the best hitters on the squad. That team was stacked and he was the only player that went pro. I don't care what anyone says, I am very proud of Chris.

Notes about the video: • The Tatis comment was a joke so chiiiiiillll • apparently I can’t count, but yes, apparently 2016 was only 1 year after 2015, so statcast would’ve been 1 year old in 2016, not 2.
