Still is if you do have the context. Just in a sadder way. Seeing Chris's old videos from before the Sagas began and before the trolls found him, before his life was turned into a Truman Show for our amusement in 2009-2010; before he explored his gender identity through crossdressing, then came to the conclusion he's not just a tomgirl but a full-on translesbian, and before the Idea Guys took that worn-down psyche and sledgehammered it not for our amusement but for their own and then she surrounded herself in a sea of enablers who furthered her delusions for many reasons including that it's the only way you can talk to her without being pushed away now... It's really an experience. Just seeing how normal Chris used to be back then. No 4cent_garbage, no dimensional merge, just a kid going through his life and getting the occasional retrospective sighting, then a run-of-the-mill autistic manchild having wholesome fun with his unoriginal original characters and his video games. I still love this video. It is great background noise, or something to listen to while taking a nap. It's now to the point where when I hear the beat to The Macarena, I think of Yellow is a Mellow color. The iconic Animal Crossing visuals and muffled sounds. The hum of the VCR. Chris' docile tones, not screaming or reeeeeing. Just perfect. Harkens back to a simple time. Zap to the extreme.

You know what? I'm convinced. Chris-Chan is the reason Nintendo treated their adult fans so poorly in the Wii and Wii U generations. At least Nintendo of America. They saw this and thought most of their fans were like this and decided to double down on their family-friendly image and pander to the casuals and ignore what their diehard fans wanted.

I was 10 years old when Animal Crossing came out. This video, and other early 2000’s Chris Chan content, is so weirdly comfy to me. It reminds me of a simpler time in my life. Holed up in my parent’s house, playing Pokémon and Animal Crossing, getting excited for Christmas. Chris and I were doing the same things during this time. Although he was double my age.

He has a worryingly good vocabulary, yet has some really odd phrasing - and there's no denying he's very resourceful in his creativity. I think his creativity stems from being unconstrained by any self-awareness... which also lends itself to a lot of plagiarism, but still, creative.
