Ehhh, she deeply enabled him early on, and having someone so desperate for interaction with woman buy you things, even if she said it wasn’t romantic, is going to make him think certain things. Overall, she could’ve handled it better, but it seems her heart was in the right place.

@@ryanrzjr this is so victim blamey. he offered to buy her things while she made it clear she wasn't romantically interested. its not her fault he couldn't take no for an answer and for you to say it is directly contributes to rape culture. if you do something nice hoping to get sex in return, you can't blame the other person for not fulfilling your expectations
@ryanrzjr
@ryanrzjr Жыл бұрын
@@libbychalios7562 The first message they shared (while they had in person contact prior) was her ASKING him to buy her things. She didn’t deserve what Chris had done to her, but she wasn’t someone who “helped” Chris in any way. I agree that you can’t expect sex by doing something nice, but she actively entertains this KNOWING his intentions with it. It’s like saying you weren’t cheating when you chose to stay friends with some who actively was trying to get you to cheat. Pointing out how she enabled him, an autistic person who had made it completely obvious he would do just about anything to lose his virginity, isn’t victim blaming. You can point out how people may have messed up in a situation without asserting they deserved what they got.

As a Autistic kid growing up, the hardest thing for me to understand was that not everyone is your friend, not everyone is laughing with you, people are using you for the joke and make fun of you. I’m so glad to have a mom that understood that I was different and was able to help me see that. Seeing Chris’s history just makes me sad because I was him at one point. I feel like if he just had some type of consistent help this might of gone differently.

Bro I was a regular kid who looked like every other kid and still got bullied, beaten (by teachers, principal and my parents) laughed at and wasn't even allowed outside of my house or to even look through a window or be allowed to get summer jobs to get allowance (bc parents wouldn't give money to a girl anyways why would u need it. U ain't goint nowhere. While my bros got treated like princes)had no rights to have friends bc mom was against it and no communication with the outside world other than going to school. i ve seen kids who got less problems than me, and still ended up either dropping out of school and becoming delinquents or shooting up schools The autistic kids in my school who were just verbally bullied and never beaten (bc who would beat an autistic kid?) Turned out amazing. Had good lives and excelled in their studies. They weren't even being followed up by drs except for one of them which had also mental problems in addition to autism. Her dad built a private school and named it after her and made her the owner of the school. She deserves the best honestly. Such a nice girl with the biggest heart. She had a hard time reading people's emotions so she always assumed the worse out of people. That's why she dropped outta school.

It always makes me sad how Bob always seemed to see the best in Chris, even in his dying days, he seemed to fully expect Chris to not only be willing to take care of his mother in his absence, but be capable of doing so. You’d think after he’d spent 30-ish years with Chris, that he’d be able to know that he was not only not capable of taking care of anyone, but incapable of recognizing that anyone but himself might need to be taken care of, but no, he always saw the best in his son, even when the mediocre wasn’t even there.

No. No of course they didn't. That being said, painting chris as some sort of innocent victim who succumbed to bad influences just isn't accurate. He had been banned from all other gamestops In charlottesville for doing exactly that and we were warned of him and when he came in we informed him he needed to leave or security would escort him out. He then said some bs about not touching him and pulled out pepper spray and sprayed part of the front counter and sprayed our coworker directly In the face. Please don’t generalize us autistics as incompetent… please. We all won’t turn out like Chris Chan 💀 we are literally just chilling. EDIT: it’s long, a lot of people misinterpreted what i said OK THIS BLEW UP. im autistic and almost 18 so my experience is obviously going to be different than someone under the age of 13 and is autistic. i agree SOME autistics need supervision, banning us from social media or the internet and having parents being controlling literally us is the opposite of what we need. high/low whatever functioning you are… there’s something very strange to me that OPs uncle and aunt are keeping their child blissfully unaware of the outside world. barely knowing what a TV streaming service is…? is very concerning to me. unless he’s like 7. if he’s 13-17 he should at least know what it is. REGARDLESS: assuming autistics on social media who get trolled like Chris Chan will end up like Chris Chan feeds into the stigma that we are incompetent babies and need to be taken care of. Chris Chan became the way she did because she was neglected, raised terribly, and was treated poorly online. this does not excuse her behavior (obviously)- she is a terrible person. unfortunately her fate could’ve been prevented if circumstances were different, but i do not have sympathy or compassion for her 😭 TDLR (i know a lot of you won’t read that dw i wouldn’t want to either): > being unaware of the world around you as an autistic = BAD > over exposure to social media when you’re under 13 w/o supervision = ALSO BAD > autistics online who get trolled ≠ same fate as chris chan

As a self proclaimed Christorian here are some added notes: - After his name change Chris regarded the Bear from the mall in high regards, often giving prayers to “Jesus, God, and the Bear” - In the Nintendo Lawsuit clip you can hear Chris say the same Jay-Z. This is because a trolled had hilariously convinced him the Nintendo’s official lawyer was non other than Jay-Z. - Bluespike was really hated by most of the other trolls at the time and many trolls tried to tell Chris he was Panda, but Chris simply refused to listen. - The names Liquid and Solid Chris were created by trolls as a reference to Metal Gear Solid - In the edited then leaked video of Bob interrupting Chris Bob says his propably second most famous quote of “You uploaded the videos, you unload them!” - After being arrested Chris-Chan wrote a hilarious letter to a fan detailing how he had read the Quran while in jail. He then compared it to the Simpsons and the Bible to Family Guy, which is a reference to Chris being a huge fan of Family Guy but not liking the Simpsons.

You can almost pity Chris. You can almost feel bad for him. You can almost, if I dare say so, excuse his behavior. But every time you do, he immediately whisks all that empathy away by doing something absolutely foul & you realize that you nearly bought into his charade. "He is intelligent enough to understand that he does not understand." He's most definitely aware of his actions. Don't let him fool you into ignoring this fact. EDIT: It's been a few weeks & some replies have caused me to feel the need to add an addendum. A long one, so be warned. Tom doesn't really dive into the nitty gritty of all the individuals in Chris' life path, only key figures like Megan, Liquid, his parents, etcetera. There have been many, many "trolls" that did take pity on Chris. That did want him to better himself, that desired the best for him even though they jeered & mocked him. He's received multiple speeches like the one from Megan, explaining in clear detail that he should get away from the internet, that he needs to break away from his habits to achieve the things he keeps whining that he doesn't have. Money, relationships, fame. The things he deludes himself into thinking he has. & every single time. Without fail. Chris ignored them. & dumped their advice in the trash. Chris isn't a child. He is an adult. A disabled one, sure. But one that is capable of functioning & *chooses* not to. Chris is a product of his parents, most definitely. But he is also a product of himself. He *chose* to log in to his computer, day in & day out to act as the personal dancing monkey to a bunch of strangers on the internet. He *chose* not to work, he *chose* not to go to counselling or seek professional help. Above all, Chris-Chan is egotistical. He doesn't seek to better himself not because he doesn't know how. But because he thinks himself above it. He thinks he's his best self already. You can feel bad for him. You can feel he's worthy of empathy, I personally think he's not. But you may have more heart than I do. But you cannot pretend that everything bad that had happened to him, he didn't walk into aware of the consequences but thought himself above them or stronger than them. Just keep away from him. If you're unlucky enough to bump into him. Don't let however you feel about him overturn your logic & interact with him. Just let him be, he's gone through enough. Thank you for reading.

I always liken Chris to someone thrown into a bakery with no cooking experience and then everyone laughs and scolds him for being terrible at it. So many of the issues with Chris could have mitigated with proper counseling and education for his disability. "Chris knows better." But does he REALLY? It’s just messed up all around and nothing good was going come from this situation unfortunately.

I've seen this phenomenon in action before. Mentally handicapped people are not stupid by any means, some of them can be extremely smart and even know how to manipulate society's feelings. I have an actual example. Back in 2019 I joined the California Conservation Corps, and we got a guy that came onto our crew named Oleg who had downs syndrome. Now he wasn't dumb by any stretch of the imagination, he was actually really good with computers and knew how to work all kinds of video editing software. However he was high-functioning enough to know that people treated him differently because of his disability and he would intentionally use that to his advantage to get away with all kinds of stuff. You could see him smirking to himself whenever the crew would get reprimanded for accusing him of something and he'd play dumb to get off scott-free.

Take that back. We all have our issues and we can either choose to go with the flow or to end it at any point and move on, however Chris Chan made the decision for himself to go down the path he took and must suffer the consequences of his actions. Who cares that he's autistic, so am I but I haven't done anything stupid, dangerous or illegal yet.... If you think his upbringing was bad [chuckles] you'd probably question your sanity if you knew barely a fraction of my childhood or went through it. I went through things that would usually cause people to become a drug addict, an alcoholic, suicidal or well be 6 feet under but I am still here with my sanity somewhat intact. I need to get this off my chest: I had probably the same problems as Chris Chan when I was a child. Like him, I’m also autistic and couldn’t process basic sentences until I was around 12-13 years old. Because of this, I had trouble making friends and turned to TV shows (mainly live-action children’s shows/cartoons) to cope with my loneliness. At the time, I didn’t know all of it was all fictional and due to my autism, my brain was wired WAY differently than a lot of people. I stated to believe that everything on the tv was real and began based my whole life on what I learned from tv shows. I started to make videos from my iPad with my own drawings and characters based on people I knew irl. As I mentioned before, I didn’t had any friends and due to my autism and little knowledge of friendship, I started to believe that every child that inspired the characters in my videos were my best friends. The more I believed this lie, the more crazier I became. While I did make friends from kids my own age later on, the kids that inspired my characters were I could think about. Yes, I know that all sounds stupid, pathetic and weird, but at the time, it was the only way for me to cope with my loneliness. This lasted for almost two years until I started high school. Then, I was super psych to be reunited with all of my “friends.” But when I approached each of them with a friendly hello, I ended up getting the opposite response than what I was looking for. These kids were not the people I expected them to be; they were in fact, very mean, rude, and selfish assholes. Many of these kids glare at me, iced me out, spread lies about me, etc. I gotta tell ya, it was absolutely horrible; not only did I make a complete and total fool of myself, but I wasted the last two years of my life on a false hope. I was also severely bullied for my disability, even by people whom I thought were my friends. After that, I was very miserable and didn’t make any videos later on. Because of my unhappiness, I started to act out in front of my family and at school and mistreat other people, so much so I was almost expelled! Luckily, thanks to my loving parents, I ended up seeing a therapist who got me out of the rut I was in and I started to feel a little better about myself. Later on, I made some new friends (a few whom I still talk to), my grades improved and I made up with my family. I’m now in my 20s and now studying at one of the best colleges in my state, and it’s classes I aced last semester. I’ve recently found out that the TV shows I worshiped were fake and only created for money and ratings. This really hit me hard and I had trouble processing everything. I’m better now, but I’ve decided not to work in making TV shows anymore; I’ve taken up sewing and fashion, and it’s really been taking off. While I do have friends now, I’m nowhere near as obsessive and clingy as I used to be. I don’t know where my former classmates who bullied or rejected me are now, but if you ask me, I could care less. I guess the moral of the story is don’t believe what you see on TV because it’s all fictional and only created for ratings and entertainment and don’t believe in false hopes, because chances are you’ll only be disappointed. If Chris Chan got the love and help he needed, he’d probably wouldn’t do all the horrible things he’s done and got arrested. Anyway, thanks for reading and have a great day! 😊 Edit: I’m currently 22 and am just finishing up my semester! I have more friends now that share my interests! I’m also working on going to a fashion camp at CCAD and working on new creations. ❤

I also was terminally online with undiagnosed autism, my story is similar to yours. I was too into MMORPGs and growing up with Tumblr was awful for myself because I thought the people I've met online were a portrayal of the rest of the world 😭 Life gotten stressful after I moved out to dorm at university, I understand now looking back I was not ready to make that decision. There were too many changes and I should've asked for a reduce course load as accommodation (the Quarterly schedule, Chaos, lack of social skills was a lot to take in). It was only after I left college on Leave of Absence that I actually was able to get my shit together and pull myself out of Misery. My friends and family were great support base and working a graveyard shift with my co-workers (they are very understanding and kind) that I was able to expand my world more. They helped me with social training that my autism needed. Things are better- better than they were in the past. I hope things are well for you too. I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees their problems the same as Chris. Theres always hope, and if theres no hope, theres always change. Happiness is fought for. Good luck! I’m only 1 hour and 30 mins in but one thing I find that a lot of people never mention that his parents were major hoarders and obviously had their own emotional baggage. The hoarding thing really surprised me because they couldn’t even access parts of their house any more, and I’m surprised no one in this family got any professional help before things got really bad.
@jobellywelly7025
@jobellywelly7025 Жыл бұрын
Honestly, knowing that his parents were hoarders adds so much more info on why Chris was so sheltered, deluded, socially inept, intellectually inept beyond his autism. From what I've seen, people who live in hoarder conditions have some of the worst, most decaying mental health. Hoarding is like the external reflection of someone's inner world. If you live that way, your perception of reality is going to be in the absolute dumps.
@lewashiCasual2003

@@jobellywelly7025 I can't imagine what hoarders' children go through. I grew up in a cluttered house, not of hoarders, but one way too small, with way too many people, each one an artist or creative, that we were too poor to move out of. In this environment I remember feeling trapped and utterly helpless; I would spend hours cleaning a section of a room, tired beyond belief, just for it to become filthy the next day. I developed depression, anxiety, resentment and anger issues, daily self harm addiction, suicidal and homicidal thoughts, and almost ended my life, before I thankfully turned my life completely over to God and we moved out. But a hoarders house is about twice as worse as the one I had lived in. Anyone who has to deal with that I really pray for their deliverance; I can only imagine how hard that is.

That thing in the beginning about him getting held down by school staff, they may have been practicing “attachment therapy” also known has holding therapy or rage reduction therapy. It’s a very banned form of therapy where multiple people hold the child down by their arms and legs and basically force them to struggle and scream for an extended period of time. Sometimes they would also kneel on their face or chest. It was used on kids with anger issues, reactive attachment styles, and autism. I watched a true crime documentary where some people did this to a child with anger issues and autism and they ended up accidentally smothering her to death. Absolutely horrific. Not that this excuses his future behavior of course, but I thought this was interesting and probably something that actually happened. A lawsuit would definitely be warranted there.

Both had abusive Mothers when all they wanted was a Mum with love. And the saddest aspect to this whole saga is the world has watched Chris Chan implode online and used it as some weird entertainment. You may also notice, if you pay close attention to his behavioral patterns, that Chris not only seems incapable of original thought and actual creativity (copying tropes and ideas he sees and experiences verbatim without really understanding the context behind them), but he also seems incapable of expressing genuine emotion, except anger. It's not autism. It's diagnosed psychopathy. All the emotional displays in his videos are completely fake and performative. He talks like he's reciting a script, because he basically is. He's copying and pasting tropes from things he's seen, and tries to equate it to how he THINKS people act when they're happy, sad, or angry. It's why he acts like a sentient live-action cartoon 99% of the time. It's all he knows how to do to get what he wants. The only time we ever see him convey a sincere emotion is when he gets genuinely angry. We've never actually seen him become truly sorrowful or joyful. It implies heavily that the person beneath all that performative display is either an animal, or a real psychopath.

“Some people think we should hide the cruel nature of the world from young people, particularly those with disabilities, and the story of Chris Chan is a great example of why we _shouldn’t._ Children all grow up and have to go out into the world and deal with its unfairness, and we need to give them the tools they need to do that.
