51 year old here. I have no children so I can't make a comparison but I lost my Collie Beau almost a year ago and it just about finished me. I had him 12 years and thought I would have more time, but we woke up one day and he wandered out and sat staring off into space. We drove to the vets that afternoon with him barking in the boot of my car, and I returned home with him wrapped in his favourite blanket, sleeping for good in the boot of my car. He had been fighting cancer for the last few months and i had no idea. He was my son. So sorry for your loss Chris.

We had our golden retriever put to rest Monday. 12.5 years old and it was incredibly sad. 12.5 years of memories and pure love just vanished. I won't ever recover and have no idea how this gets any better. I'm hoping time is a healer but right now i can't imagine a world where that's true. Condolences on your loss. You're not alone. Despite how you must feel.

Dogs are special man, just part of the family. Sorry for your loss, lost my girl September 15th just the other month. It’s tough but I’m appreciative of the feelings when they come. It just means I loved her and miss her. I won’t say it gets easier, it just gets different. Make sure you rest, take the time when you need it and fill your days with laughter when you can. I don’t think of that last day as a bad day, how could it be I got to spend it with my best bud. Being there for her while she makes the journey to the next place. Take it easy man and sorry that it happened.

I'm knowing that Chris is humble enough to know that he is privileged beyond belief to have people to help care for his children and a wife that takes charge. He gets to come in and be fun dad, read stories, baths adventures to the store.. it would be fun to be a parent when you are blessed to have a lot of help. Blessings💫

Damn... I'm so sorry Chris. RIP Butters. When I was grieving for my dog, after I let the tears fly for a bit, every time I started to get sad that he was gone, I forced myself to think of the times he made me laugh and it really helped me get through it. Your mind delays upsetting feelings like that to protect you. It waits til it feels relaxed to let it out. It’s like a delayed fight or flight. My therapist has broken it down for me before and it makes sense. I used to rewatch the butters incel vines to cheer myself up. RIP little bud.

Sorry for loss man it’s tough. I had to say goodbye to my 13 year old pitty right before thanksgiving. He was sick for about 5 months but tough as hell through it. One of my best friends ever.

RIP in piece Butters. I feel for ya brother, had to put down two of my dogs within a 24 hour period of each other. One was just too old to walk or eat and the other was very sick. It was heartbreaking to say the least. Its been 8 years now and watching this still makes me tear up over it. Dogs or all pets in general are family and losing them is an unmatched feeling. The love and joy they give is like no other.

i've been through many dogs and it's always different. Through the years I've seen my family all react differently to their pet's passing. Some people process by keeping busy while others feel guilt unless they mourn. My mother cleaned her house the entire day when her beagle passed. It was strange to me to see her occupied with something so intently after such a tragic event. For me, somehow I braved entering the vet office without breaking down. I didn't cry up until the exact moment my dog passed by euthanasia. As the day progressed, I felt a strange calm. Perhaps because I knew my dog was ill and it was all over. but I was highly reflective the entire week.

So sorry. This one hurts to hear. Sam and Butters were your main guys back in the day. I always remember thinking he’s a good dog dad. You absolutely gave him such an awesome life. The story of their adventures getting out the gate and coming back together. So so sorry ❤️❤️ Please know this; There was an old story on your Instagram ages ago of someone walking over to you and butters going and sniffing their yellow sneakers, and you say “ Butters, butters get away from those ugly shoes”. This phrase has been quoted in my family’s household whenever I see an ugly pair of shoes. Usually my dads Sending my love

This reminded me of when I was like 13 and my cat had to be put down. God I'd forgotten about that. I didn't think it would feel like that. And in the room it fucking crushed me. That cat was like a damn dog. She would follow me everywhere. And I would constantly for a split second wonder where she was and then just realise and get that same feeling for a minute. Man I loved that cat Rip butters.

Grew up in rural wv in the 90s when it wasnt uncommon for an owner to put their own dog down for whatever reason. It doesnt get any easier. Butters lived a solid 13 dude. You're lucky and so was he. ❤

RIP Butters. Lost a cat years ago. Never cried more than on that day. Please people, do show compassion to other animals too. All those chickens, cows, pigs etc. are the same as dogs in all the ways that matter - they feel pain & joy and don't want to suffer.
