I hope all will read this. Many years ago I heard Chris deBurgh interviewed about this song. He said this is a true story. He and his wife had been married a long time. They still loved on another but truly the passion and appreciation was sleeping. They went to a party. She wore a red dress and these things happened that he describes in this song. He saw her through the eyes of others and fell in love with her once again. Their marriage was completely brought back revived, with perhaps the depth that only years and maturity can bring.

I was sitting in the car debating whether I should purchase it, if I could afford it, etc. I turned on the radio and "Lady in Red" started to play and I took it as a sign. That was 35 years ago and I still own the Mustang. I am now 76. I made the right decision. I loved this song since the first time I listened to it on the radio.

Romance and love lose their meaning when betrayed. Chris de Burgh wrote a heartfelt song about devotion, yet cheated on his wife with their nanny; turning his words into a sad contradiction. As for God, faith doesn’t justify or erase actions like these; loyalty and respect come from personal integrity, not divine intervention.

I was a little girl watching my parents dance to this song at a party. My mom happened to be wearing a red dress and was beautiful. But the way my dad held her and looked at her, I remember how I felt their love at that moment. Then growing up understanding the words I was even more blown away by their moment. I just thought I would get that someday when I grew up but haven't so far. I still love the song just when I hear it I can't stop crying it's just such a beautiful song, a masterpiece!

I was just 10 yo and it’s been one of my favorite songs ever since. As a child, since I was 3 yo I used to listen this type of music. We were living in NY and music was all we would do. I wasn’t interested in kids music or cartoons. I have an old soul. My best memories are of my childhood in a new country, with a new language and no friends or family, other than my mother and 2 sisters. The 80’s is best time ever. I’m still stuck in it.

I know no one will care about this comment but that’s ok. My mom passed last year. She was gorgeous when she was younger. I’ll never forget how she told me that a tribute band once sang this song JUST FOR HER. She was in some bar in her early 40’s wearing a red dress and the lead singer noticed her and specifically sang this song just for her. My mom was truly gorgeous inside and out. I miss you mom. I love you ❤️

His voice may be beautiful, but the irony is hard to ignore; he wrote a love song like 'The Lady in Red' about his wife, then cheated on her with the nanny while she recovered from an accident. Timeless songs don’t excuse timeless hypocrisy.

Excellent song sung perfectly by a master artist Chris DeBurgh !!! Still an amazing masterpiece in 2023 and forever !!!
@xcviij7045Күн бұрын
The song might be beautiful, but it loses its meaning knowing Chris de Burgh cheated on the very woman it was written for. A 'master artist' doesn’t betray the love they claim to celebrate; his actions turned a masterpiece into a mockery of loyalty.
