Chris Demarais responds to Rooster Teeth Shutdown

A Simple Walk Into Mordor co-host and Day 5 and Lazer Team co-creator Chris Demarais responds to Rooster Teeth's shutdown by Warner Bros. Discovery on March 6th, 2024.

Roughly 150 employees encompassing RT were effectively laid off and will be unemployed within a month or so, according to RT employees. The status of remaining and upcoming shows such as Camp Camp, RWBY, and Red vs. Blue: Restoration are unknown. Warner shutdown the company after being unable to sell the company and determining RT and its properties were "unprofitable." Warner is looking to sell these properties once RT is shutdown.
Please support any and all employees individually on their personal platforms. All proceeds made to RT directly now are not expected to go to any of the remaining employees as RT begins to shutdown.

As sad as this is, i gotta admit, idk who 95% of those peoole in frame are. I think that's helping this be a little easier for me, it sucks but its hard for me to really feel much for what amounts to a group of strangers, these people aren't the RT i'm saying goodbye to. The people I feel for right now are those like Geoff, Michael, Chris, Kerry, Gav, really anyone who was on camera before 2013 or so.

I totally get what you're saying. But you've essentially just boiled it down to, i didn't watch those people as a kid so i don't really care about them, even though all the people you've named care deeply about their peers and co-workers. This is about the people who've lost their job, not the faces you recognize like a high school reunion. If we all (including myself) just were a bit more open to the changes that a prod company might have to make to continue its relevancy. It a sad thing, their core audience grew up and only wanted Nostolgia., it is a neven sadder thing that their isn't a place for what RT had become. I think a lot of new productions were in infancy and so very much needed time to become their own. The audience member never let things be apart of rooster teeth without asking for Geoff or Gavin to join. Even now, people ask for Matt or Burnie to come on the shows like they have had any sort off relevance unlike all the people YOU don't recognize. If you get anything from this realize it isn't always about who you know man.

They literally addressed the buyout and the merging sucked, one of the big starting points that slowly killed the company. Don’t think bringing up ex-employees having sex with fans, jerking it in the office, or the past racial issues with ex-employees when the company is being forcibly closed the best time don’t you think?

It's not a perfect comparison, but you generally don't talk about someone's faults during a eulogy. This was more to put out feeling and statements to their fans, not to hash out what went wrong. Also most of them are losing their jobs. It's a little too late for "corporate" to be pulling their strings.
