Either this tour or the next one: They had a 10 day stopover in Chicago where they played in 3 arenas with 3 different set lists. Aragon Theater where they only played Blues, United Center where they played deep cuts, and Soldier Field where they played their hits. They have a great, deep catalogue of fantastic songs.
@HangFireStonesPodcast

Yup that was on the following tour in 2002-2003 👍 Small correction: the show at the United Center was a mix of hits and obscure cuts with a mini-set devoted to a specific album (that night we got Some Girls). The show at the Aragon Ballroom was made up of a lot of obscure songs (not a straight blues set). That night we got the debut of Worried About You and also the second and last time they every played Torn and Frayed! And yes, the stadium show which actually was held at (then) Comiskey Park was the straight hits show. An unbelievably ambitious tour!

@@HangFireStonesPodcast Mind you that was the ‘97 Bridges tour, they’d gotten long past their debauchery days and still delivered great rock ‘n roll. It would have been fun to be there in ‘72 or maybe not. No one was shooting up in ‘97, they were all clear and coherent and a fun spirited group of people, not at all egocentric.

I saw them in '89 and '94 in Pittsburgh. '89 was just brilliant, especially since they hadn't toured since '81 (and I really thought they pretty much sucked during that tour). They were really tight in '89, and that was pretty much the high point of their latter years. Keith was still able to play his guitar with constant energy and Mick didn't need a retinue of background singers to augment his voice. Today, I wouldn't walk across the street to see them. I have a real problem with old people attempting rock-n-roll. I think it's a farce and it's embarrassing.

Keith never claimed originality and went out of his way -- from the time he was a kid in the 60s -- to give credit to his influences. Name another rock star as big as Keith who gave more credit to those who came before. The only one who comes to mind is John Lennon.

Eric Clapton is another one that always gives credit to those who influenced him,from the old blues singers like Robert Johnson ,Muddy Waters,B.B King etc to rockabilly acts like Carl Perkins then the early rockers like Chuck Berry,Little Richard etc He also paid homage to other great guitarist's like Jimi Hendrix,Duane Allman,Albert Lee etc far to many to mention but just like Keith he always gives his predecessors and peers their due

Keith's a few times over the years, said he's not the best or the original as he said here. So a bit humble and knows where and who influenced him. I don't think many, if any bands will have a record contract at their ages. That's of course if they're not financing it themselves through their company.

No disagreement from me! It definitely is their later period golden age. So many awesome tours and strong playing. Ronnie eventually showed up for the Licks tour and knocked it out. Bigger Bang tour for me is a tough one. Charlie's miraculous come back was out of this world but he came back with such energy that every song was played ridiculously fast! Super fun too watch but tough to really enjoy a lot of the ones here. The Saitama 2006 show was impeccable though! Ever see that one?
