Chris Evans on ‘Captain America: Civil War’, His Marvel Contract and Casting Spider-Man

While some might have debated casting Chris Evans as Captain America back in 2010, I think it’s safe to assume all the doubters have changed their tune. That’s because Evans has been absolutely perfect in the role and his fantastic performances along with great scripts and incredible action has helped make the Captain America movies some of my favorite superhero films of all time.
And if you loved Captain America: The Winter Solider, you’re going to lose your minds watching Captain America: Civil War. That’s because directors Joe and Anthony Russo have made one of the best films of the year and one of the best superhero movies of all time. The film is going to be a huge hit with both audiences and critics. Trust me; Civil War has incredible action, a fantastic script, emotional performances, and the perfect introductions of both Spider-Man and Black Panther. It’s also one of those films that fans will want to see again and again. And after you see Civil War you’re going to be even more excited that the Russos are helming Avengers: Infinity War - Part 1 and Avengers: Infinity War - Part 2.
At the recent Los Angeles press junket for Civil War I landed an exclusive video interview with Chris Evans. He talked about his reaction when he first read the script, doing test reads with potential Spider-Man actors that were up for the role, the status of his Marvel contract, what the Russo brothers have told him about Avengers: Infinity War, and more.

+MichaelMopar69 I once watched that he has a contract for six movies which includes 3 Avengers and 3 Captain America shootings. So Cap 1-2 and Avengers 1-2 came out; Civil War is coming in but they're gonna split the Infinity war so he has two movies to shoot due to his contract.

Chris has stated several times that nobody else could portray Ironman as RDJ is perfect in that role, well, I believe the same is true for Chris Evans as Captain America. I know in the comics the shield is passed on but I could not watch anybody else as that character. Plus it just goes to show how incredibly talented Chris is, he portrays a very stoic character (much unlike himself) and yet his portrayal makes you really relate to and like Steve Rogers. I'm so glad a little bit of humour is creeping into the character though, eg that cheeky grin after the kiss was adorable in Civil War, and the hammer/elevator discussion from Age of Ultron. I love your work Chris and I look forward to watching your next project!

When I heard about that last movie where Hugh would be wolverine, I cried. I don't think anyone can step in and take on that role. And I feel the same about all the roles in avengers now, changing one of the actors might be the worst thing for this universe.. Like said before, who can fill the shoes of Evans and Downey?

I know this is two years later but the only way these actors can do more in the roles they have is by filling in the gaps between movies that have already been made. A bit like Scarlett Johannson has been able to do with Black Widow or like how Chris Hemsworth and the Guardians of the Galaxy gang, they have more stories to tell.
