From the 80's Channel 4 TV show 'The Unforgettables'
Chris Farlowe is an English rock, blues and soul singer, best known for his hit single "Out of Time." The song was a number 1 hit in the UK in 1966. His first band was his own John Henry Skiffle Group, where he played the guitar and sang too.
However, he wanted to focus on his vocals and turned his hand to rock and roll with the name Chris Farlowe. He was the voice of a group called 'Chris Farlowe and the Thunderbirds.' They built up a reputation throughout the UK and Germany and eventually moved to R'n'B in the early 1960s.

Thank You - I feel the same. I heard and saw him at "The Beat-Club" in Bremen in 1966 when I was 11 years old. Heś a very sympathic great Britain, and now I'm dancing in my little appartment like 1966. Wish You all the best from Germany!

When this song first came out in 1966 I found myself in an all night club in Kingston it was so good the DJ played it every other song right through the night till 8 o'clock in the morning we couldn't get enough of it and it still sounds just as good today and Chris Farlowe still has a great voice in old age, vastly underrated

Chris Farlowe should have been a HUGE star. I only recently heard of him. What a voice. This guy was Tom Jones without the hips. I know he was big in the UK, but here in USA I don't think many people know him.

@@tollyt7465 I listened to his original release and he sounds great. Jagger produced this single and Farlowe recorded quite a few other Jagger Richard songs. The Stones recorded three different versions of this song, the first released the same year, 1966.

So, I was eating a late lunch of chicken soup and bread in Prêt à Manger in Camden Town about an hour ago at 5pm, when the old rocker Chris Farlowe comes and sits next to me. We chatted (not letting on I knew who was of course - far too crass) shared a few exchanges about the news in the Evening Standard he was reading and the state of the world. Looking these days like a third Kray Twin, he told me, "Ya can see the wurld from this windar aart there, ya know" in his legendary, now rare, authentic Cockney dialect. After 15 minutes I whispered, "Gotta go now, I'm out of time" to which he replied, "Yer not outta time are ya?". I looked at him knowingly and took a couple of snaps. It was even better than the time I met Bob Dylan a bit further up the road from there in 1996.

This is his best version and the best, period, of anyone. His delivery breaths a life and meaning into the words that the Stones, great as they are, somehow missed. I listened to 'Out of Time' for years before I stumbled across this Chris Farlowe video and realized, for the first time, what this song is REALLY about: telling an ex gf to fuck off when she wants back in after having dumped you!
