He's one of the most underappreciated comedic minds of our time.

I so look forward to anything Mr. Guest puts out. There is ,without a doubt, nobody as good as him, and his gang, at what he does. He was so ahead of his time with Spinal Tap(with Rob Reiner), and people are still catching up. "A Mighty Wind" is, in my opinion, a masterpiece.

Christopher Guest is one of the most imaginative, articulate and totally hilarious people in this country. He can take any role and simply "do it".

Rose - "what are you looking for?" Guest - "Someone who can listen..." Jesus, is he in the wrong room.

Charlie Rose seems to be interrupting a bit too much here. I'm getting into the rhythm of Guest's answer, then Rose steps in to ask what Guest was just about to explain anyway.

Guest is not an a-hole, he's just very shy and private. (Most of the celebrities I admire are.) His personality is also very serious, dry and deadpan. In fact Eugene Levy has described him as being "an emotional desert." I think all of these things point to why Guest is so adept at taking on other personas. He studies, listens and watches.

lol. Do you know him at all? The dude is just incredibly cerebral ... and incredibly critical. This is why he is so good. This is why he makes good movies.

@cosmicarbiteroftaste It's way more subtle(A Mighty Wind), because rock music is much easier to lampoon.

Does that jacket have a collar or what? No lapel? What kind of jacket is Christopher Guest wearing in this interview?

"judging from all that could be known of him, without actually knowing him" I didn't have to think about it for more than a second. Anyone who has seen a handful his interviews knows this. So, it is not a judgement at all; an observation, rather. I am glad that you make yourself LOL like a 12 year old. I stated an obvious fact; not psychoanalysis.

Guest delivers to his fans. So what if he prefers to work with his circle of friends - Woody Allen & Bergman do/did the same-, and what does it matter to anyone if he is shy, introverted or aloof? He is an actor/writer/director - thats enough for anyone.

Just launched our web series this morning. It's about the making of a web series. It's called Web Series: The Show. Chris would approve, I assure you. Search "Wonderpony web series the show"

Hm. I'm not seeing "rude". I'm seeing an awkward interview where the interviewer kind of interrupts and is, himself, not "rude" but ruder than Guest is being.

I could not disagree more. Chris Guest did not direct Spinal Tap, so technically it's not really "his' film. Right? Mighty Wind contains my favorite tunes. And I love Tap.

I actually see the guy doing a bit of self-deprecating humor that the interviewer takes too literally. But ah well. Not everyone can have a good sense of humor. "A Mighty Wind" wasn't nearly as funny as "Spinal Tap", but it was funny nonetheless. That "no one watched" it isn't representative of how good the movie is. We all know that millions would rather listen to a shit-nugget album by Taylor Swift rather than Mozart. Does that mean Mozart is the "piece of shit"? Absolutely not.

Ahem, well, I, must, say, that, with, all, of these, commas, it does, invariably, add, gravitas, to an, otherwise, moot, and pointless, point. "A Mighty Wind" is Spinal Tap rehashed, just as all of his films have been. A Mighty Wind is a Fart.
