He is the best of the current guys, but I don't understand why everyone is still so salty about the original trio leaving. You still have the original Top Gear. It's called the Grand Tour. It'll be nice when they start shooting more shows regularly, though. And if you take the current Top Gear and just judge it for what it is, you'll see it's a very, very good car show and nothing to complain about. It's the second best one there is, tied with Roadkill, in my opinion.

The amount of Tesla's we see on the road today is simply frightening. The fact that people want to be possesed by a 2 tonne, moving iPad is mind boggling. Some features on the car are outright stupid and somewhat dangerous. For example, how can the "Magic steering" possibly know where it is. What if, say, an Audi brake checks you (I say an Audi because 1 in 1 Audi drivers are rude, narsicsstic businessmen trying to invade space... Kind of like what a Austrian Painter did to Poland in 1939). How will the "Magic steering" possibly know whats going on? And then the charging... Imagine a Tesla racing a Nissan Micra for 24 hours... It would have no hope! Imagine the things you will miss while charging. But the owners will say "It's got loads of POWER!!!". But a wise man once said "Speed AND Power. Always both. Never one option". The Tesla has the power, sure, but it takes 15 minutes for it to heat up to go into race mode. So a Ford Model T CAN and will beat it in a drag race. HOW IS THAT SPEED! Then there is the price... Look at all the things in the car that are totally useless. A drawing pad, dancing doors, a horn that can sound like a chicken or a cow. It's almost like they forgot that the people buying the car will be 18 years, not 18 months old. Then finally, the windows. Yes, that man on that video threw a hammer at it and didn't break, but what if the car is drowning??? What are you meant to do??? Cut a neat little hole in the door with a chainsaw convinientley placed in the back seat? In short then, the Tesla is a car for people who think their iPads are too small, and have a strange obsession woth water

Porsche never built 911 electric, porsche now has develope future combustion engine and syntetic fuel Long live combustion engine
@magnustan841
@magnustan841 3 жыл бұрын
I don’t think the 911 will ever go electric. Porsche employees know how much that car means to their brand and how dearly their customers like it. Part of that identity is the flat-six engine. In fact, I think Porsche has decided to invest in synthetic fuels, just so they can keep the 911 going in its “pure” form for as long as they can.

Look at it another way, it’s taken over 60 years of development to get a 911 to the performance levels where it’s at today. It’s taken Porsche less than 5 years of development to make the Taycan Turbo do the equivalent. Where do you think the future for performance is? Gasoline engines won’t die due to mandates, they’ll die because people will be choosing to ditch heavy maintenance 600hp gas engines for no maintenance 1500hp electric...
@simonsandvik7367
@simonsandvik7367 3 жыл бұрын
Why would anyone spend money on a worse technology when you can just make it electric, 1500hp, four individual motors and a 500 mile range. Just because of the sound? Come on…
@magnustan841
@magnustan841 3 жыл бұрын
@@simonsandvik7367 Apparently, sound is everything for petrol heads. In fact, they can mention all the reasons they want as to why they won’t want to switch to EVs in a hurry. Not a lot of them do a 200-mile journey, that’ll hurt your average affordable EV, every week, not a lot of them do that kind of journey where they need to charge it constantly. They don’t want to make that switch because, “there’s no lovely combustion engine making a noise for us to enjoy.” I think they’d happily take a 1.0-litre VW Polo over a Porsche Taycan.... I get your frustrations man, EVs do make sense for a lot of people, but because people do want to give up their lovely noise, they won’t make that switch. It’s their loss at the end of the day, because there are so many things EVs do better than combustion engines and taking everything into consideration, EVs are better for the environment in a lot of countries, especially in countries that rely heavily on green ways to generate electricity.

As a mechanical engineer knowing and having some experience with the pollution of electric cars and synthetic fuel research, internal combustion engines aren’t going away. The energy use through the entire product lifecycle of an ICE car vs an electric car isnt favorable and the manufacturing and disposal of electric car tech is quite dirty, but it’s out of sight of the consumer. Synthetic fuels could be much more economically friendly since they use existing gas stations and can work with current ICE tech in a sustainable way. If sustainable fuel production can be cleaner than electric car technology, which it can be fairly conventionally, then the potential is massive. Particularly for heavy industry, shipping, and aviation, synthetic fuels could cut emissions enormously.

Porsche themselves say 911 should be very driver friendly (aka moron friendly, those not adjusting to the advantages and disadvantages of rear engine layout). That means they are going to extreme lengths to engineer their way into being friendly. They are extracting the 911 out of the 911 with constant widening, moving the engine, playing with the weight and, finally, PASM and PADM. So quite a lot are saying base cars are more 911 than the high end ones, excepting the GT cars (which are totally other topic). I personally just don't like how unnecessarily fat they became. I thought people would love that widebody look that all 911s now share, not just the GT products, because it makes them look like the old 993 models with the huge flared wheel arches. If you’ve seen a 993 Carrera, you know what I mean.

I doubt it. They've been saying this for years. I remember hearing about LPG and all that and nothing materialised really. Only bio fuels but those were still pollutants. It was a niche then and it will remain a niche now. I feel like the ship is sailing on that. EV's will be outperforming combustions as well. They should have moved on this years ago, when the talk the emissions clamp down thats now happening. Synthetics haven't a hope filling in the gap that they need to to keep combustion mainstream now because it's too late, it hasn't matured enough and manufactures and companies like Shell, only have themselves to blame.

@@F1ll1nTh3Blanks EV still has a long way to go and ultimately, it'll not become the answer to the future of vehicular propulsion system. The battery technology hasn't evolved much and it is still a limiting factor about whether electric vehicle can cope with the demand that a petrol/diesel powered car used to face. Long distance journey, top up fuel and off you go again. An EV is more limiting in terms of how you conduct those journey, with time consideration about the range and whether the electric motor can run at a high demand without any shortcoming.

I look forward to it! Would love to see the whole pollution-saving EV scam being exposed and thrown back to the drawing board. 300K miles/average required to offset the pollution it causes while being produced, it's madness! Plus the "throw your dirty 8-year-old ICE car EURO 6 away or anything in between and get a shiny new EV" message being championed by the government and funded by the taxpayer should be totally scrapped and the public purse reimbursed IMO. It will take generations for all owners who made the stupid decision to replace a new-ish car with an EV to clean their conscience of the pollution created in the manufacturing of Teslas and all other EVs. See the UN's report on the impact lithium mining alone is having on poor countries unctad.org/news/developing-countries-pay-environmental-cost-electric-car-batteries

Exactly right, and how much energy does it take to produce a single gallon of synthetic fuel? Petrol fuels right now require over 8kwhs on average of energy per gallon to find, extract, transport, refine, transport again, store in the ground, then pump back up into a tank just to get burned giving off heat&poisonous fumes. How far can an average electric go right now today on that same amount of energy without the noise heat and fumes? 🤔

I still reckon mild hybridisation is inevitable for a simple reason- brake and tyre emissions are also significant, so decelerating by regenerating energy instead of wearing pads reduces that issue. Hybrid NA engines sound nicer and respond better than turbos too.

Lets just appreciate them all, and long live the combustion engine for its raw mechanical vibe and respect the punch of electrons. That said, I think Porche has it right. How can a 1.9 sec 0 to 60 be anything like safe on a daily drive!!!
