It's fine for most daily commutes but there's always that once a fortnight unforeseen journey for work or in your personal life that will be made 100 times more stressful if your car only has a 130 mile range and takes 6 hours to charge - and how many people can afford a second car to combat this? Not many when this thing costs 30k on its own. Absolutely. Look at old civics from 88 to 00 Double wishbones in the front and independent rear suspension. Unique in its class. Also full Aluminium engines with 16 valves back then. What where for example the germans doing in this class back then? Heavy iron lumps with 8 valves, cheap mc pherson struts and even cheaper torsion beam or solid beams in the back. Plus, no variable valve timing. So yeah Honda allways had an Engineering spirit about it. Starting all the way back with the first car they put on sale the honda s500/s600. They allways had a special focus on egineering. The civic cvcc, the 1300 Coupe, the s800, the Prelude, the insight, the NSX, the integra Type R, the civic Type R EK9 and so on.

What are you talking about? Volkswagen had 5 valve per cylinder engines back in the day. And all in all it did work as many 1.8T 20V are abused by making twice the intended HP figures (sometimes even more). BMW had VANOS since the BMW M50 (1990-96), Porsche VarioCAM since the 90s as well. The base Civic 1.3 was a carburated SOHC engine back then. If you're comparing top of the line engines keep the facts straight at least. I respect Honda btw. don't get me wrong.

I don't that it does not have the range I don't care that it has a small boot I don't care it is expensive I just love the way it looks especially on the inside and it's a Honda (like my first car) If I had the money I would buy one in a heartbeat

$20G I'd consider. Counting you can get a used certified low mileage leaf for less than 15 in the states, that's a tough sell.

They're missing the point about the range. If you live in an urban centre, you need a big battery. People who live in dense areas don't have private garages to charge in. So you need the range to between charges. Lots of people where I live have EV's but live in apartment complexes.

I don't understand why they didn't go with the original design. That was pretty bad ass. And I don't see enough of a difference because of some kind of regulations.

I must say, i've had my eye on the Honda E for about a year and a half ebfore it even came out. Chris certainly knows what he's talking about and i value and respect his car opinions. The reality is, seeing the car is person, sitting in it and test driving it is where the real proof in the pudding will be so i can't really comment until that happens. But i will say this: It's the ONLY rear wheel drive hatchback apart from the BMW 1 series which now have changed thier 2020 and onwards cars to front wheel drive and all wheel drive. That's a BIG plus for me as rear wheel drive cars are SO MUCH nicer and more fun to drive as we all know. I could go on and on and write a short essay however for the sake of other readers i will try and keep it short. I didn't like th elooks at first as i found it a bit girly, too nulky and rounded and i didn't like the round light design. So this remains to be seen if my mind is changed when i see it in real life. As for it having a lounge feel, i live the idea as i like my daily driver (main car) to be as easy and relaxing and enjoyable experience as possible and i feel the Honda E ticks all of those boxes. I just know it's probably easiyer and more relaxing to drive then say my BMW 116d. The screens i cannto wait to use and i hope it doesn;t ebcome too distracting or an unessesary item in the car. I for one LOVE the digital headlights and think the idea is revouloutionary and also the external cameras looks great. It's packed full of tech and driving tech also. I've heard the seats are really comfy which is very important to me expecially having a bad back. Only thing is, it doesn't have an arm rest! Suprised about that so will have to buy one from amazon. The range isn't much of an issue for me at all and shouldn't be for city people as i rarely drive more than 30 miles a day on average so this should be fine, coupled with the increasing availability of charging stations i suppose sacrificing 30 mins of your journey to charging isn't the worst thing for all the pros the car offers. The price is lot i admit but don;t you get £5k back from the government? Is that still on offer? That plus selling my old car would mean the car would cost me around £15k which is what most people say the car should cost around so not too bad plus there's always finance, which for £15k is good! Also, would have to change the alloys as the standard one's design isn't appealing to me but i know Honda offer some more conventional good looking ones so that's fine, also qill get 17" maybe even if it means sacrifying mileage. The one pedal riving is also a cool feature.

As a commuter car it's brill. So what if the range is 130miles. My Mrs drive 6 miles to work and 6 back on rural roads & then a 4 miles drive to Sainsbury's. One full charge would last her a week on a cold winters week. I would love her to sell her 1onwer low mileage Honda Cr-z but she won't. I wonder if those prototype wheels are available from anywhere?
@txcforever4 жыл бұрын
I would really like one but 30.000gbp for a car I can't really take anywhere outside the city (at least unless there's a plug waiting for me at my destination) is too much. I am not a rich man, if I pay that much it would be for my everyday car, weekend included. I can't pay 30.000gbp for a car that basically can only take me to work and back or at most to the next big city and back (barely). If it had maybe 100 miles more of range, then hell yeah.
@rw94954 жыл бұрын
Good video, but yeah 130 miles of range isn't gonna cut it for me either, especially when I can get a Chevy Bolt with nearly twice that for just a little more money

They probably had to solve some weird problem with the rear suspension. Maybe they can add to the battery next run. They really need inductive street charging to get e cars to catch on.

I want one, I don't care about the range because I am never going to need to drive that far in a hurry and the fact it doesn't look like another Honda that just so happens to be electric is a big plus point.
