See, now that's the old-school way of recording, where the band actually played as a band in the recording studio rather than each member going into the booth seperately, and then all of the different tracks (guitar, drums, bass, vocals, ect) having to be basicaly *assembled* into a song, i.e. "mixed". The old-school way, back in the 1950's, at Sun Studios, each song was recorded directly onto an acetate disk as I recall reading somewhere, the music actually etched itself onto the disk via its own vibrations, so if somebody was behind the beat or the drums drowned out the vocal, say, the entire track had to be recorded again. I believe that Tony Bennett still records this way in fact, in front of a live orchestra no less. I used to want to be a recording engineer but then my mom got sick and I had to be her caregiver so my ambitions went out the window, but I remain fascinated by the history of the recording process. :)

Me too, Diana. There is a current commercial on television for yogurt that uses Wicked Games as a backdrop. I had to find that song and whoever sang it because I thought I remembered it was used in a soap opera back in the day and I absolutely loved it. I've been watching Chris Issak videos and interviews ever since.

@@denise8881m that’s weird I seen that commercial a week ago I told my so “ Hey that’s Chris Isaaks song on here” I’m going to see him on July 15 with my son in Canton Ohio I bough tickets as soon as I heard about it. I’m so excited 😆

Wow, Diana! You are so lucky! I recently 'liked' his Facebook page and I saw him say that they had to cancel a show in New Mexico in early July because some of the guys in his band were sick. I'm glad they are better now. He has some shows around the country with Lyle Lovett and some solo. Have fun!!! 🎼🎵🎶🎸

I did a recording in 1989. I'd give anything to have a whole band there and do it live. Music breathes. It has to be real with a real instrument vibrating in space. How sad that digital has taken up so many sound waves. In a digital sound there is no true dynamic timbre.
