AEW has potential, something NXT lacks. NXT is good but we know, NXT is NXT. It has a bar to it just like main roster. WWE has been so sport-entertainment-ized that it's hard for them to hold a fictionally consistent pro wrestling narrative. They are just bunch of fake fighters who have larger than life "nicknames, different monikers and merchandises. Not characters. So you take the most dividing thing between other sports and pro wrestling and leave it only with the difference that it's fake, it loses its appeal. Many people watched WWF- Ruthless Aggression Era because even though it was fake, the product did have a fictional narrative. Not that hard to understand. NXT falls under the same problem. Even though they have a consistent narrative they're also not different than main roster. They cannot dare to try totally fictional wrestling characters. After every great match wrestlers come out and brag about how show stealing it was. Like, what? I understand when you put it over as a competitive battle with tons of chemistry but when you add the entertainment part I can't help but get annoyed. So you're basically agreeing that your job as wrestler is to perform and entertain, not wrestle and win matches? AEW on the other, had a narrative. They have BTE that have it's own strong consistent fanbase of 300k maximum, where they build characters further and have fun. Add in 2 hours of Dynamite where I don't think a single meaningless match have happened. Since last year they have been consistently pushing Moxley, Cassidy, Hangman and Darby All-in while the main event faces also have been variably same. What makes them feel so different than WWE's rich roster? Not their wrestling skills, but their characters and the stories they're in. So even when they brag about their matches, it isn't that much of a big deal.

And the funny thing....it doesn't feel forced. It feels very...well...Orange Cassidy. The tone of his voice is bored most of the times, but at moments his true intentions and passion come exploding out. Just like his offense in the ring. The guy is a genius. You literally can't compare him to anyone else in this business. His character and style are unique. And the whole idea that he's not gonna try most of the times makes you hungry for the times he will. Like this one.
