“We’ve got to stop treating armed officers as if they’re civilians walking down the street with a gun.”
The treatment of firearms officers is scaring applicants away from the specialisation says former firearms officer Harry Tanaye. Former Police Superintendent Leroy Logan says the public needs reassurance that standards are the same whether you’re an officer or a member of the public.

02:00 Previous officers charges are irrelevant and have no bearing on the case, every court case is judged on the evidence presented. The man used a vehicle as a dangerous weapon that by the drivers actions, could have injured or killed others. .Had the result gone the other way there would have been a mass return of permits which allows officers to carry firearms.

Passed my test when I was twenty stopped by police with my mates in the car when our firm went on strike! Shown him my docks went on to Matlock for the afternoon. Second time I had been drinking, pint of shandy and half of bitter, Miners strike on and I had to wait ages for a letter saying I was not over the limit!, A Young lad just out of school at a bus stop ran without looking straight into my car! He tried to leg it but he had a broken toe. Police came and sorted it no probs no charges. I an now 73 and just about retired from driving, son and wife are chauffeurs! Never had anything but nice words from the police! Why do blacks expect special treatment?

Leroy is just annoyed it wasn't the result he wanted. Perhaps rather than criticising the officers actions, this clown Leroy could explain Kaba's erratic actions in driving his Audi at vehicles and officers. We have to bear in mind this vehicle was being driven not by the owner, and was involved the previous day in a shooting. We should be supporting our officers that have to deal with gun crime.

Before the family whip up a storm, whilst I understand a son is a son but the police should release the video so ther is clearly no doubt the blame lies with the deceased, 3 hours ,guilty verdict, I seem to remember it caused as it usually does a reason for people to take to the streets, when the family were shown teh footage it went very quiet Whilst the family have made a statement it's clear they can and will have the ability to call for protests, the police should release the video of the shooting if social media posts suggest the words are causing a potential hate campaign whilst the video as they know Despite their grief the wider public wont have seen the video which was evidentiallly best evidence for the case Lets pls not shy away that maybe there are more ethnic people that carry guns or refuse to surrender and argue and act aggressive Despite the clear commands to follow basic instructions for everyones saftey BEFORE ANYONE MENTIONS ITS BIASED, RACIST OR A BOT ,I MADE SURE IT WAS A FAIR AND LIBERAL COMMENT THAT NEEDED SAYING FOR EVERYONE'S BENEFIT AND THE POOR RELATIVES GRIEVE IN PRIVATE

Many people in many professions and trades make the wrong split second decision which results in injury and occasionally worse . They have the same fear and worry that they may be ( and often are ) prosecuted by the heath and safety executive and many loose their job for doing what they believe was for best intentions, they didn't go out with the intention to harm but they are held responsible just the same.

So should criminals. Kaba was using his car as a lethal weapon against armed police officers. They shouted multiple requests for him to surrender, he didn’t, he continued to drive at them. The police officer is a hero. That he was treated this way is a disgrace. I suspect this only went to court because of the skin colour of Kaba, and various protestors who care for criminals, not police officers.

In addressing Harry Tanaye's perspective, it's true that armed police, due to their specific training for dangerous situations, shouldn't be treated like civilians carrying guns. However, there are legitimate concerns about the misuse of power by *some* officers. For example, the incident at Manchester Airport, where armed police used excessive force, and the case of Wayne Couzens, who committed heinous crimes, illustrate how a few officers can abuse their authority. While these examples are alarming, it is important to remember that these are the actions of a small minority of officers. Just as we don’t judge an entire race by the actions of a few individuals, we shouldn’t assume all armed police are corrupt or dangerous because of isolated cases. However, the issue of racial profiling within the police force must also be addressed. Black and Asian people are disproportionately targeted for stop-and-search practices, and when armed officers are involved, this bias can escalate into life-threatening situations. Incidents like the shooting of Mark Duggan highlight the impact of racial tensions within policing. To foster trust in the police, it’s crucial to address these issues. While most armed officers carry out their duties professionally, reforms in training and accountability are necessary to prevent both racial bias and the misuse of power, ensuring that public safety is maintained without discrimination. Opinions are opinions; however, they must be balanced, fair, and not overly emotive in an attempt to seek the audience’s approval.

To quote former Conservative MP Chris Boatang on the larger proportion of stop and search of ethnic peoples in regards to knife crime stated that if the statistics show that those ethnic groups commit most of the knife crime then logic tells you that who you need to stop and search more. A failure to do that means the crime increases. It is not an issue of the police it is an issue within those communities that glorify criminality and all other social issues that exacerbate the problem. That is for the government and community organisations to address. The police are only dealing with the mess because rid the failure of others and should be blamed for applying the law as the rod of correction which in most cases could be avoided if again parents, community organisations, government taught and prepared the young for a better future instead of leaving them feral.

The cops didn't contain or box the suspect in properly. Poor containment. They gave him enough space to reverse and ram . The officer couldn't point out which of his colleagues were in fear of their life. CPS should have prosecuted a lesser charge then there would have been a successful conviction. All this happens in seconds but the main failure is the containment.
