Chris Knight is the closest one to John Prine that there is. It was interesting to hear him say that singing with John Prine was the highlight of the last 10 years. The king and the crown prince on one stage. Very special.

Wow, he said his songwriting skills had went away. I hope not! However, his long time fans know something's up with his songwriting skills because a lot of the songs on his last few cd's have been older material. As a poet, I understand how it happens. Your best stuff comes from a dark place. When life gets good, the creativity wanes. Hopefully, he's just too satisfied in life to keep writing the deep dark stuff that streams from him at, what was, his songwriting peak.
