Chris was a true country singer, he lived the life, did what he loved, combined genres, a true musician, singer, song writer, a cowboy. You're ability made Garth what he is.

Chris LeDoux was and still is by far the BEST country singer. He knew how to tell the story, and with his cowboy background, he had many more experiences than country singers today. He did his music his way, and it made him famous.

I've been listening to Chris Ledoux for about a year now. Man, I loved country, but where was he when I was a kid and he was alive? As a grown man now I find that characteristic much more valuable and I appreciate it much more than I would have if I was a kid. Chris was great, popular and well known. He just never had the presence of Nashville. He was a real cowboy. It's like in his song "Cowboy Songs" where he said "Hank Williams Jr writes'em tough and sings'em rough. Charlie Daniels sings a song about the bills. Waylon and Willie sing about...anything they like.....you might not think this is a Cowboy song. But it is, cause I wrote it and I'm a real life buckaroo" I much prefer this to Rascal Flats. But, as a young man, I appreciate the whole demeanor and personality that Chris comes across in his music. I may not have as a kid. Rest in peace.

To me, it's all about the song, not who sings it. I have no idea who Tom Cochran is, but I've listened to Chris for as long as I can remember and he's the one I first heard do this song. Personally, don't care for the Rascal Flatts version, but if I'd heard them do it first, I probably would have liked it. I'm sure there are a lot of Rascal Flatts fans who have no idea who Tom NOR Chris are. At least the song's getting to a wider audience because of the number of people who've covered it.

Pretty good on this transposition to C major. (I'm used to the F major of both Cochrane's 1991-vintage #1 single in Canada and Rascal Flatts' cleaned-up and chorused-up rework of 2006.)
