Chris was planning to use HYBE's business model in his new plan for SM 3.0 anyway, has he addressed that? How is HYBE the bad guy? A business opportunity fell into their lap and they took it. Were they supposed to turn it down? You don't think SM wouldn't snatch HYBE up in a hot minute? They're jst mad, in my opinion, that the little company they used to spit on now owns their ass.

That’s really amateur talk, the first thing HYBE’s gonna look at will be their financials, nobody is gonna take LSM’s words for it at this point. And they gonna audit the shit out of their numbers and all the dirty deals are gonna come out. That’s why they need 40%. Elon tried to work with twitter, but he was blocked until he had to buy 44% and he just bought the whole thing, and fired the people that were blocking docs from him. 40% is not hostile, it is the minimum amount to unblock those crucial documents, to clean up corruption, but it’s pricey, cuz it’ll be cheaper per share to buy 100%. But hybe is not going for 100%. Chris Lee’s video is to divided hybe x LSM’s alliance, but it’s really not as effective cuz hybe already said LSM is stripped of everything from SM. It wouldn’t matter if he set up XX planning on Mars. If the money is not coming in, they gonna look where it’s going. And cut it off. And I’m 1000% sure Chris Lee had been an accomplice of LSM for years for him to know this much. He’s ratting lsm out for his own protection. That’s the point of the video. He wants to be perceived as the good one that’s “reporting” LSM’s dirty deals. It’s prisoners dilemma, the one that talks with the police gets the lesser sentence. It was for his selfish reasons. Not for SME, kakao, LSM, or hybe, none of that. He’s covering his own axx.

I remember, seeing him in a KZbin video, him not even clapping when BTS performed for him and his staff. I remember Kai from SuperM getting sad at the mention of being employed by SM Entertainment, it's not that's he's ungrateful but the grueling work that all of my queen and kings put in daily to what for hin to take the money they clearly earn and put it elsewhere? The next generation needs to create their own businesses- there's more than enough money being made to do that- There's no reason there aren't more Indy labels now that everyone and anyone can self produce and promote When that happens the big labels like SM lose their weight
@Maraaha55 Жыл бұрын
It's ten years since Big Hit launched BTS. Before BTS the company was close to bankruptcy and needed help from JYP to survive. Even though BTS did surprisingly well it took years before the company was financially secure. BTS were lucky that they started using social media to get attention at a time when no one else was really doing it. Now, everybody is, so that is also now a noisy platform and hard to get the kind of exposure an artist really needs. There are already literally hundreds of agencies in Korea trying to launch Kpop bands, and despite knowledge, experience and contacts in the industry, they are struggling. Anyone trying to create a new company is facing a huge battle, and it just not as easy as "create your own business" - you need to ALREADY have a lot of capital behind you, and if there's one thing young people lack, it's capital - along with years of experience and a phone full of influential contacts. In effect you need to already have a business, which is ironic to the max. It would be great if some relative unknown could shake it all up, but BTS already did that, but even Hybe is not what I think we hoped it would be. Large companies - if they manage to avoid atrophy and all the other internal issues, and remain innovative - will always have a better chance in the market than small ones. I don;t particularly like it, and am probably prejudiced against it, but I don't have an answer.
@angaka2027 Жыл бұрын
@@Maraaha55 Everything you say is accurate but,,,, labels want artists with their own social medial presence now. Every artist signed has that. Without a large following they are not signed. So it's the breakthrough talent that is going to be signed. It is that same talent who can self promote and self produce. Is social media crowded sure but that hasn't stopped those artists from breaking through. The reason they need money and aren't succeeding is because they are trying what's been done. Like BigHit found a way that was different the new artists need to find a way. I believe in the next generation. They are creative and smart and hardworking. They can do it if they just take what they know and break the mold.
@Maraaha55 Жыл бұрын
@@angaka2027 Yes, it worked for BTS because it was different, and they did it at absolutely the right time. New artists need to find a new way too - I hope they will, and we see a new Big Hit, but I also need to say that Bang Si Hyuk's approach to nurturing his talent was also new and different from those established companies - many of which have also started to implement some of his ideas with their artists. More of similar, please, even more freedom for artists to create, even more emotional and intellectual support, and more new ideas from more people - ironically, more of the same actually means "more new".
@PurpleHaze4me Жыл бұрын
Majority of kpop idol aspirants target the big 3 + hybe cause thats where the greener pasture and popularity abound. Thats why smaller music entities could barely survive due to the monstrous weight from these powerful entertainment moguls. Kpop business is getting more and more competetive every year or so. It would take a huge sum of money, decades of hardwork and experience, and a number of talented and intelligent people to reduce the weight put on by the reigning music giants, if ever.

The man only speaks out now! LSM has always been shady but SM management sat back while they knew the man embezzled money from SM entertainment (this includes his nephew).Korea dispatch has released 118 facts on LSM and SM recently and it’s shocking! The board of directors also filled their pockets while artists get peanuts by comparison! So these guys must go! Let us not forget that by the same token, the newly created shares and convertible bonds SM with Allign partners created to get Kakao into the mix is also illegal. This should not stand. This whole thing is a mess and this current management is just as guilty. There are some pretty ignorant people supporting Chris Lee when they should be doing some research and reading on the matter! Chris Lee was complicit to LSM’s crimes. He participated and benefited from it, but is now only saying something to save his own butt. What he must have forgotten is that he can be sued. Chris Lee is full of it and so is LSM!! Every single last one of them can kick rocks and catch a brick. They don’t care about the artists, staff, or the company’s legacy, just keeping their positions and power.
@RJ_0805 Жыл бұрын
@AmyLeeLYMab6 they are also complicit but so is Chris or else how would he know all of this. He only switched on LSM because he didn’t accept all of AP’s demands as well as some other stuff. It’s layers to this ish. None of them are on the good side.
@RJ_0805 Жыл бұрын
@AmyLeeLYMab6 I don’t care how big the corporation is or the influence of the person at the top. There’s no one on earth that can make me put my morals aside and participate in unethical and criminal practices. Chris Lee acknowledges this and will reflect on his actions or lack of, and will be stepping down as CEO because of this. I still do not trust him or anyone else at the top or on the board. He has not done anything to deserve my trust. His announcement today has only gain him a small percentage of respect from me. It doesn’t change the fact that he was a factor in this mess. And I haven’t forgotten that he hid behind AP and made deal with Kakao of all companies. It’s no different from what LSM did with Hybe, he was just more swift his actions. Both Kakao and Hybe should back off, and let SM be SM!
@RJ_0805 Жыл бұрын
@AmyLeeLYMab6 Dispatch just revealed documents that both Chris Lee and Tak Young-jun not only defended LSM and participated in his illegal practices, but also received 1.8BKW each just last year. This guy and everyone else that aided LSM are not worth being defended. That each have an agenda.
@RJ_0805 Жыл бұрын
@AmyLeeLYMab6 I’m really trying to understand your stance on this situation but your argument is all over the place. My OP is basically me calling Chris Lee a two-faced idiot and so is everyone else involved. LSM, Hybe, AP, Kakao, and TYJ are all bad. There is no good side to this situation. The only victims are the unknowing staff and artists.
@RJ_0805 Жыл бұрын
@AmyLeeLYMab6 because that’s only 208 out of 600+ staff, and where is the evidence that artists actually sent him well wishes why used them? It doesn’t matter! He still committed crimes right along with LSM!!! He covered his uncle’s tracks because he was benefiting from it as well. Why are you defending him?! Yea he acknowledged his wrong doings but he still must accept the consequences that come after. That’s the cost for wrongdoings! You can get away with it for a long time, but eventually it will bite you in the butt. He knew those documents will come out and the company will be investigated. He knew his name will be in the same group that signed off on all of that mess. So, he bit the bullet and just told on his self.

I'm not sure how to feel about it here. There's a lot to go through and a lot to think about,. However, I am tired of the older generation suppressing, smothering and snatching things out from the younger generation.The younger generation has so much to offer and it's only fair that they get their say whether it's in music or government or whatever! The older generation is supposed to be wise and be a mentor or leader to the younger generation. And if that's the case and they're showing the younger generation to be selfish and to only care about themselves!I don't know if that applies in the situation but something in the video because kind of made me think about that. Whatever ends up happening I just hope that everybody can be happy besides one single person , and I hope that the artists don't have to suffer because of a power play!

This is some petty stuff. Lee Soo-man sounds like any old person who has too much money/ time and doesn't know what to do with the ideas in his head. Chris Lee sounds petty for airing this out. I disagree with you that Chris Lee is standing up to intrench power. He didn't get the job on merit. He got the job on nepotism and is now doing whatever to keep his job - money talks or the potential to lose all that money talks. No where did I get the sense he is for the artists and employees that help made the money and company where it is. Who needs k-drama when you got SM.

If he wanted any part in the future of SM, he ruined it with that petty and low production video.

CHRIS NEEDS TO GO.... Anyone who worked for years and gained the utmost trust from his Uncle who built something with his hard work .... to come along an stab him in the back without communicating with the uncle on his plans. Doesn't belong in any executive SM seat. He backed his uncle in a corner for Lee Soo-man to do what he felt he needed to do, after being betrayed by someone he trusted. I believe all that Chris is doing is throwing a temper tantrum by holding these ridiculous accusations. If all this is true... then lets start seeing proof and isn't tax evasion over there a criminal offense? Why is Lee Soo-man not being arrested or investigated. If this kid is sprouting nonsense... I hope he get sued for Defamation. If he is trying to have his uncle arrested.... I hope Lee Soo-man cuts this kid out of everything ... including having anything to do with SM or it's affiliates... that goes for Chris's partner as well!!!! HEY CHRIS...... *****Rats belong in the sewer ... ***** HYBE is a company I know is pretty greedy & I worry about the Artists & employees of SM along with SM being able to keep the integrety and independance of all their Artist. (In my personal opinion HYBE has done this for GREED, not at all for Partnership ... but to take, more than they willing to give. Yes, they maybe #1 in revenue .. etc. However... what KPop group & their fanbase got HYBE to that point? I'm just grateful that the young men that worked their asses off, with very little vacation time for family & just mental breaks is now on Hiatus, getting over due time they needed for themselves)

here we are 30 Mar 2023 and Kakao Entertainment has bought 1.66 million shares from HYBE. That left HYBE with 54% of its shares in SM. HYBE sold its 1.66 million SM shares for 248.8 billion won ($191.8 million), or 150,000 won ($115.62) per share, leaving it with an 8.8% stake in SM Entertainment. Sadly the price of the stock dropped heavy after Kakao bought it so HYBE lost money with their remaining 8% they still own.

I couldn't care less about SM lol, but I do think hybe is the best bet. Hybe will let companies still run themselves under them. I love bts, but I don't like any entertainment company. I think they all have some corruption here and there. For people that like K-pop, as a whole, I think would like hybe better than the other option.

Chris lee should know that who give him the position of SM in the first place. If he is not the nephew do you think he will get his job as CEO. He told Hybe do you know what you are getting into but do Kakao know what they are getting into. They will be in the same position as Hybe. Difference is he will be fired. I do not think he is the right person for the job. The way he handled the things is unprofessional.

LSM received some commands from control in 2022. Basically they hoped to have some growth and profit opportunities but unfortunately Chris would also like to have more influence than he had and interestingly it looks like they helped cocoa buy shares to take control and this is where LSM stepped in again without giving an advantage and leaving Chris at the helm because they would probably support him and here unfortunately LSM sells HUBE shares and does not allow cocoa to control

Bottom line: Lee Su Man as he aged got very proud and Greedy. He does not care about Sm artist well being at all. He wants most of profits from Sm entertainment artists only for himself to glorify himself. I sincerely hope that Sm entertainment will survive without Lee Su Man for the artists sake.

Sharks swim together until one bleeds and then it’s a frenzy mealtime. Hybe can just sit in the boat for a bit and watch…..My sympathy goes to the artists and employees who’s lives will be damaged.

But here's the catch, they're accomplices, they know everything for so long but concealed the fact until now. If LSM kicked out and prosecuted, so does everyone that knew and involved directly and indirectly. So it really is a bomb that will get everyone in SM with shrapnels.

Words that Lee Soo Man or others (writers, singers, producers etc.) incorporate into the songs may be true. I have heard words in songs that have no reason to be there or maybe someone added them to a song for personal reasons. The last word I heard and it seems a lot coincidence was in the Taimin's song Advice. In part of the song where a chipmunks-like voice is heard, it clearly says the word "bochinchera" not once but several times. This word means gossiper in some Spanish-speaking countries. The theme of this song is about "warning to judgmental people and those who are caught up in their prejudices".What a coincidence to use that word in a song with this theme. Was they pointing to Spanish speakers? Are they pointing out women because they use the letter A at the end of the word? Why didn't they use gossiper woman? In all countries there are people with prejudices, not only in Spanish-speaking countries, whoever incorporated this word to point out Hispanics is being misogynist and racist.

I would prefer to be under HYBE if I were an SM Artist or employee. I also wonder why did the nephew wait so long to reveal all of these unethical,perhaps even illegal, practices by LSM? I don’t believe for a second that it’s out of the goodness of his heart. He just shot himself in the foot. I think he has resigned now but I would be asking him how long has he known this & look into his financials as well. If they find that LSM has broken any law they should charge him & jail him.

This is some drama for sure! I think HYBE should work with Chris now that his uncle is out of the way… Give them a chance to show what that generation can do. Regarding “the head of HYBE America being recommended to be on the board at SM” (who I believe is now Scooter Braun) I think until western music industry labels have KPop executives on THEIR board, SK should precede with caution with inviting western music executives to their label….
