Personally I think joe and Evan are the only day time guys I find listenable anymore as the afternoon show feels more like a “let’s stir up controversy for the sake of controversy” type show and Maggie and Bart feel more like national talking heads then nyc talking heads

The Law of Divine Oneness I don’t doubt Maggie’s ability but her takes feel like something that is said on national radio rather than local radio or even stuff that would be said on some espn show. It really feels to me like they are trying to do a national program vs a nyc program whereas joe and Evan are fans of local teams and you feel their fandom and love of the tri state area coming through. I like Carlin, liked his show in philly more, here it feels like he’s trying to be contrarian for the sake of being contrarian rather than it being something he really believes. As for Bart I find him utterly useless unless he’s talking football. The show would probably be better with just Maggie and Carlin but the show would be even better with Carlin and someone who’s local and fans of the local teams

Yes it is. I love Mike and Chris both together and separate. They are the end of an era where people knew sports and were knowledgeable. Now it is all opinion First Take types. Just not as good IMO.

I agree but Joe B is borderline unlistenable as well. Evan really is the star of that show. I would have liked him to take Mike’s spot solo or move him and Joe to 1-6. With Bart and Maggie from 10-1.

Rich B I agree with you about joe. Sometimes his fandom doesn’t allow him to see any reason at all or look at something from a broader perspective, especially when talking about the jets, and he has this way of sucking Evan into that abyss too. Evan is much more reasonable usually and I enjoy Evans Saturday solo show. But he might have been good with Carlin as a duo or as another person suggested Carlin and jastremski. They’ve got a talent with jastremski and why they buried him at night I don’t understand

Joe Benigno & Evan Roberts re indeed great. They are the final vestiges of personality-driven sports radio here in New York. Steve Somers is a very good relic. Boomer & Gio are fairly useless, frankly. You need a loudmouth somewhere in the mix. They no longer have that. ESPN Radio is even more useless. So ... something new will have to emerge

John Jastremski is ok but has immature demeanor, in my opinion. If I was running WFAN, I would find some unknowns who have NY spirit and attitude and thinks like the average fan. The station is stale and boring. The new crew is horrible. They won't last more than a year.

I don't know what Mark Chernoff was thinking putting Maggie Gray in this afternoon slot. To me she's more of a weekend host like Anita Marks. Lori Rubinson is a much better female sports host then Maggie. Bart is great for football but thats it. The problem with Bart is, when football season is over, thats the problem. Then again, WFAN has had on Steve Sommers for 30 years and he is horrible.

Problem with WFAN, in the morning Boomer has way too much commercials. Sitting there in traffic all I hear are commercials, then when they do come back on there's very little sports talk. Just a lot of nonsense men to men talk that I don't really care that much about. Some of the cheezy songs they make gets too old after too much. They do more laughing then actually reporting or talking about sports. The problem without Mike is they don't have a good sports analysis group, even Joe and Evan are a bit light on analyzing the details or asking the tough questions.

It's the same show, same idea, same time, and even same network? (ESPN) They cancel each other out?? Greeny is on ESPN and Golic's show is on ESPN News? Why steal from each other? I saw a show of Get Up and it's exactly the same format as Golic & Wingo and it's the same show as Mike & Mike, but again, at the same time and the same network? wow haha Maybe Greeney's son Stevie (no offense) can help him out on his show like Mike has with his son now lol (however, Mike Jr. is very good but the connection so soon helped his career I am sure to be on NYC radio in the morning so soon! Russo is right though. Not saying Boomer or any of the other hosts deserve it, but they are guilty by association because that was Carton's whole schtick. When the morning show was on top of the world, Carton would constantly poke the bear, whether it was making fun of Francessa or anybody else. The fact that multiple hosts messaged Russo tells me that things are not going very well at WFAN. All of a sudden it's not so funny. Morning show blows, Joe & Evan are worse since Mike left for some reason, and the afternoon show is a ticking time bomb. Also, if Carton didn't start this game with Mike, is Mike still in the afternoon drive? I think maybe.
