I did Eng. Lit. O and A level. The actual coursework books we read, discussed and essayed in class. Multiple times. Homework reading was peripheral to the book. So for example, we had Coriolanus and Henry IV pt 1. But we read Othello, and the other Henry's at home. 1 Chaucer, 1 Trollope etc. But we read the others at home. It would be impossible in my school to arrive at the exam, not having read the book. Chris' teachers need to be fired.
