i'm so glad, dear james, that you are off and about on your bike sharing wonderful art. saves me getting on a plane...chris olifis work is wonderful and in part breathtaking. i think his late work shows the friendship between him and peter doig and the influence they have on one another...

I am grateful, as well, as I will never be able to visit "a" New York gallery, let alone as many as James visits.

my word this is excellent. not the biggest fan of his old stuff but he is onto something serious with these night paintings. I think very few painters have truly investigated light in the night. good one bru!! also reminds me of what Peter Doig said about Trinidad about how there is 12 hours day 12 hours night and how the night becomes real dark and often harrowing. Ofili is really capturing this.

sure enough ! mood indigo is definitely not explored enough. i was fortunate enough to catch his first run of black lite panitings at the 03 venice biennial. they were so stunning, blew everything else back into the the water.

I remember that sensation exhibition but didn't attend. I like the old painting minus the dooky and I like the new paintings minus the dooky! But I guess it wouldn't have been sensational without it?

the "monkey Magic Sex, money and drugs" painting, the swirl of colored dots in the background are a nod to Hirst. Idk if its an homage or slight to Hirst and his pivotal role as the YBA. maybe a bit of both
