Honestly it is ridiculous to think that any point guard in the NBA is better than Chris Paul at this point. Rondo may have flashier passes but he can't score worth a darn outside the paint. Westbrook is more athletic but isn't as efficient or as good a playmaker for his teammates. Not to say that he isn't a really good assist man, he just isn't at Paul's level. No one is. Rose is a straight animal when healthy but even then, Paul's instinctual knowledge of scoring and then his studious approach to learning passing lanes is unreal. Plus Paul plays as good if not better defense than all of these guards minus maybe Rondo. Curry has established himself as an elite point guard, would be the number two if he didn't average 4 TO's a game and played better off ball defense.

Im a Celtics fan who believes that CP3 is the best point guard but Rondo actually has a good mid range jumper. If only he could develop somewhat of a three point shot and look to score more.

Lenrom12 if rondo could shoot at cp3's level he would be a consensus top 3 PG in the NBA, along with cp3 and maybe curry or westbrook( the guy gets 22 and 7.. he isnt a pure PG, but he is a top 5 player at the PG spot

xtornjakx Westbrook is an elite scorer and athlete and would be a great fit for another team, but he is a drain on the Thunder's offense. If he would pass the fucking ball when the defense collapses and content himself with ~12-14 shots a game, he would be a top 5 point guard no doubt (and incidentally a 10-11 assist guy without even trying). As it stands now he is barely top 10. Top 5 point guards don't make their teams worse.

Cp3 is quite obviously the best PG in the NBA, and this year he has left no room for discussion. coming into this season he was generally considered to be the best PG but there were alot of challengers to that claim such as tony parker, westbrook, rose, ect. but CP3 has proved this year that he is the best PG in the NBA. alot of that has to do with the fact that his supporting cast is better now. he himself wasnt worse last year, its just his supporting cast wasnt as good, especially the coach. averaging 19.9 PPG and 11.5 APG( blake griffins improved jumper is giving cp3 more assists) is proving what should have already been known: CP3 is Best PG in the NBA without a doubt

***** no hes not. hes a flashier passer, but is AST/TO ratio is dward by cp3. rondo was getting 11-12 APG with 2 HOF's...and Kevin Garnetts mid range helped him get assists. thats why cp3 was getting 11-12 APG in new orleans with david west.. because he was a big man who can shoot the mid range. blake griffin has improved his mid range, and cp3 is getting 11.5 APG with only 2.5 TPG. rondo gets the same amount of assists and double the turnovers( 4 a game). i just wanted to stop you before you said rondo is a better passer, because hes not. Rondo is the best rebounding PG in the game, not gonna argue with that. on Defense cp3 and rondo are about the same in all facets. however, cp3 is a much better leader then rondo, and cp3 can actually shoot! rondo can occasionally shoot the mid range jumper, but cp3 is automatic, and he has the ability to both shoot 3pters and free throws.. qualites rondo dosent posses.

xtornjakx That being said CP3 gets a lot more favourable calls from the refs as well as blake griffin, increasing their stats. But yes I agree Cp3 has proven to be the number 1 overall point guard. I'd say Rondo can be equally as good though. On the note of passing Rondo is better and so is Rubio.

Pär Sekut exactly. people pay to much attention to how "flashy" their passing is, but even though cp3 isnt as flashy of a passer, he is the more effective and efficient one. he also gets the same number as assists as rondo( and MORE then rubio) while still getting 20 PPG....

I see, you must think the best way to rank point guards is by their head-to-head matchups. Let me help you out then: that's really dumb. Look at their numbers all year, for their careers, and ignore one-game aberrations or SC top 10 appearances. There is no numbers-based argument to be made. As far as LAC in the playoffs this year? When lebron has a good game agasint kobe or durant he is crowned the best for example. By the way rose won the MVP in 2011 and while injured, lebron wins it. Mm?

Lebron is the best player in the game behind what he does every night, not behind what he does three times a year against one opponent. Likewise, Paul is the best point guard because of his day-to-day production and the way he maximizes the offense of his team.
