These were all super helpful to see how you break each type of animation down, thanks for sharing! I didn't know that traditional animation is 12 fps, but that's good to know. I might have to give Fresco a try, I've only been using Procreate, I really like how you have been showing them both for comparison.

Glad you found it helpful! I said animation is 12fps, but technically it’s usually 24fps animated “on 2’s,” meaning there’s 2 of each frame. So that translates to 12fps. It’s a bit confusing and I’m by no means an expert in this regard!

Been really enjoying all the insight to your videos. I'm more of a traditional artist when it comes to drawing, but have dabbled with digital over the years. Never quite fully committing nor seeing the growth I'd like to see. Your videos are really inspiring & accessible to a novice like myself. Love the lettering and "low tech" animation style. And glad you're using Fresco as it's the app I'm trying to stick with. Just saw a video on using the touch modifier for quick vector trimming. Do you ever use that function? Great work, good luck on your continued YT growth.

Me again. This was helpful. I am a lefty and therefore embrace the awkward lettering style I have. I’m primarily a ceramic artist, BUTT (lol) I am making videos for my channel and like to use my own flavor of illustrations and titles. So, can you do a little somethin’, somethin’ on a vid about that topic? TIA

Glad you found it helpful! I definitely want to do a video on title stuff/call-ours for videos. I’ll start brainstorming!

Can you please make a video on exporting or preparing your work for printing or for video? Do u need to have Illustrator to print vector drawings? What file types can we use for print or to have a transparent background so we can use our animations in a video editor as a title?
@chris-piascik Жыл бұрын
I’ll add this stuff to the list. But no, you don’t need illustrator to print vector artwork. You can open the file in photoshop or print directly from Fresco, or export a PDF from Fresco. You can print a jpg, pdf, png, or PSD with good results as long as it’s at least 300dpi at the size you’re printing. So, if your print size is 10” wide, you’d need your document to be at least 3000 pixels wide. For overlaying animations on video, to get the best results I would export a png sequence from the motion options. I actually have a video that shows this process (I believe it has video graphics in the title).

you explain very well, please keep it up :) Could you explain how to draw without pixelating please? My drawings are pixelated and I can't find a solution 🙏
@chris-piascik2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I’ll do my best 😊. Pixelation is just a result of your file size not being large enough. I tend to work at a minimum size of 2000 pixels wide if it’s for animation. But if it’s something I may print, or is just going to be a static image I work around 4000 to 6000 pixels wide.

I love doing animations and I just started learning how it works in Fresco. But when you export a GIF that is transparent there is a thin white line around your animation, which is ugly when you wanna use it on instagram stories for instance. When I export from Procreate it’s sharp betwenn black outline and transparency, no white little outline. And I would like to use Fresco more but this bothers me, do you know any way around it? Is there a setting I could change?
@chris-piascik Жыл бұрын
Hmm I haven’t had that issue, I’ll see if I can figure out what’s going on. What resolution are you working in? Is there a lot of texture/gradation in your animation? I make animated graphics for my videos in Fresco without any issues like that.

So, it is adding the frames to your layer? How is it not just running the different elements one after the other, (which would not, for example have name showing but switch to the "lightening" group). Since yours are overlapping them as individual animation, can you just do a little explanation of organization? Are they grouped or something? .
@chris-piascik2 жыл бұрын
Hi Amy, in Fresco each layer has its own timeline. So since the sequences are on their own layers they play simultaneously. Does that answer your question?
