Wow. I remember, back in March of 1990 and a month before I married my (beautiful, lovely, awesome) wife Trish, my best friend Mark took me out to lunch for my birthday. He gave me a CD - yeah, Chris Rea's "The Road to Hell". I said "Thanks Mark, but I don't have a CD player", and he replied "I'm sure you'll get one soon". So at our wedding rehearsal party, Mark and his wife Beth (two of my all time favorite people, BTW) gave us a CD player for a wedding gift. So awesome. And long story short, this was my 1st CD and still one of my favorites. What a great voice, musician & songwriter...

It's odd that I've been a fan of this man since he burst onto the American music charts with "Fool (If You Think It's Over)" in 1979, and this is the first video of his I've ever seen (with the exception of his appearance in Bill Wyman's Willy & The Poor Boys video). There really are no words to express how this guy's music moves me in so many ways...a songwriter of the 1st degree, and that voice...man, that voice.....

it's one of my favorite song. every single verse overlaps w/ my bitter memory of crushing huge bubble economy in japan, which occurred 1990 and was just the begging of the road to hell for our country (we're still in it.). it really was like "all the roads jam up with credit and there's nothing you can do". "oh look out world, take a good look what comes down here" he precisely predicted whats gonna happen. love from tokyo.

I'm not a religious man, but the one thing where science and religion meet, in my opinion, is this: Energy doesn't disappear. It merely changes shape. So all of us will never die. Our loved ones are with us and we're with them. Even if it's just a fallacy, it's a comforting one. And even then... why should death be the end of it all...? I simply can't believe it is. Why should the infinite, amazing universe bow down to something as trivial as death?

Still ahead of its time. Love the way Bjork dances on the trailer & her facial expressions are priceless. The decision to produce the video in B&W is genius as makes it timeless. I was at collage in 1993 & watched this over & over on TOTP & the Chart Show. 2538 views? Are you kidding me! Justin Vernon is one of the most amazing singers and songwriters, his lyrics are a reflection of so many rough and deep feelings.
