This lineup was the peak of Chelsea Grin. They are a solid group in general but adding Jason Richardson on lead gave an extra dimension and technicality that I feel they lacked.

I have a lot of great memories with Chelsea Grin. Evolve and Dust to Dust, and Eternal Nightmare are my favorite albums. Alex Kohler is the vocalist of this era of Chelsea Grin, the band changed vocalist in 2017/2018. Tom became their new vocalist, and was freaking awesome. I miss Alex Kohler...he created his own channel called Grudges. You should check out his new stuff. Grudges- Misery

MY DUDE WHY hahaha I hate shaming you for your first pics, I get that I generally don't have the popular opinion but damn. This was when this band started going downhill in my opinion, the first two albums blow everything else out of the water. They're not a singy/clean vocals band and should not be to me lol. But glad you made it to CG either way, you gotta check out classics like Recreant or Desolation of Eden, it seems less trendy to me in comparison to this stuff. Way heavier in the beginning and much more straightforward deathcore, WAY bigger sounding than this stuff and all that melody is instead concentrated in the guitars. Either way, appreciate your openness on music man!

Mykle Lape Tom is a beast on Vocals and you can’t deny. Does lows are something else but I didn’t like Bleeding Sun cus it’s generic af but I for sure know that it wasn’t the vocals

They went downhill when Jason Richardson left the band. The same thing happened to Born Of Osiris. Chelsea Grin changed their style on Evolve when Jason joined the band because of his talent. Once he left after Ashes To Ashes, they kept the same style, but didn't have the talent to put all the crazy melodies and leads that Jason could play. Literally the same thing Born Of Osiris did. They put out The Discovery and were praised to high heaven, but then he left and they were never the same. The problem is that they pick up that Djent like style with a lot of chugging with crazy leads over it, but then he leaves and all you can play is the chugging part. Self Inflicted was so terrible that I was done with this band. They just put out a new song called Bleeding Sun and it's so boring. I don't think they played a real riff the entire song and it's just the same chugging over and over.

@@AAA__ Makes sense, makes sense. Shame about that too though, I feel like this really doesn't represent the band well. It ain't bad, just not really great. Also Koehler is a big part of what made this band I think, but I think the degrade started when he was still there. I blame the drum and guitar replacements after My Damnation, talented dudes but just took the band in a very different direction musically.

@@thefilmeffect6089 I think Richardson really is a big reason why they went downhill, honestly. CG was not at all BoO and bringing that sensibility to the band took them in the wrong direction (I think.) Some great jams on Self Inflicted but ultimately never the same after My Damnation.
