Extraordinary Chris Squire bassline! When the Relayer LP was released I was mesmerized by how Chris Squire and his Rickenbacker seemed "like one single body" producing all the amazing riffs -- perfectly executed -- throughout this musical Yes Masterpiece. And although I have been fortunate to have figured out some of Chris Squire's basslines, this one seemed far too intricate and complex to even attempt to transcribe. And I too have been hoping for an accurate transcription. I salute you for your sensational effort and monumental result!

This is the best transcription I have ever saw of this song. Been chasing this one for over 20 years

Great job right here. An amazing part that had to take a lot of work to transcribe. And in bass clef! Thank you!

Thanks for the transcription but for the moment I get down, hahaha, I played some Yes songs in the bass and I think this is the most difficult, in the future, one day, I will play it!

Thanks for this. Might be a fool’s errand for me, but I’m going to try and learn this one (I’m a guitarist, tho). That part at 189 (first keyboard solo). I can hear & see video of Steve playing A & G chords but it has a crazy rhythm I just struggle with. Seeing clearly what the bass is doing will help.
@sigil5772 Жыл бұрын
Well, best of luck - think A, G, G, G, A, G, A, A, G, G, G, G, G - repeat that rhythm when the chords change to C#, B, then F#m, D#m. Even more good luck wishes if you're going to try Steve's lead passages too :D

@@sigil5772 Thank you so much for the tips! Yeah, Steve’s leads are nuts; if I can at least quote them a bit & not sound like crap, I’ll be happy.

on bar 288, that G with a double accidental sounds as an A? Why not do a A natural accidental?

Read the description re key signatures.. trying to stick to classical music theory. Might be good to upload a key-free version

Probably because the key in that particular section is in F# and in music theory a double sharp looks better than a natural.

Thanks to this transcription you can see how Steven Wilson's remix ruined the bass part from measures 483 & 484 and he never admitted his huge mistake.
@sigil57722 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I agree that his remixes don't always honour the original issues
@PabloGindel2 жыл бұрын
@@sigil5772 I can't speak for his other remixes, but that one for "The gates of delirium", while overall sounds good, that alternate bass at the end throws it out completely.
