Heard this song for the first time when I had to rush my beloved dog Jasper to the vet at 2 am....couldn't go in due to covid... He was taken from my arms and died later that day.....he was trying to tell me he would not be going with us on our new chapter....I guess he loved the chapter we shared. As do I. . best chapter of my life was the time I spent with him. So ...we started over without Jappy......but with a new little guy who although is thought to be his brother is completely different and makes this new chapter an adventure......This song parallels our life and I'm sure the life of so many more..Thank You Chris for such a wonderful wonderful song!

First let me say I'm so sorry for the loss of Jasper. In June I also lost my dog, he was a miniature schnauzer. His name was Jasper 😞. He had developed a growth on his gum line, we thought it was caused by a tooth infection. We took him in to the emergency vet when it started bleeding, they ran test and told us it was cancer.. We were told it would be in his best interest to put him down sooner than later to spare him the pain and discomfort. So, we took him home. The only problem was through the years he became my daughters dog more than the family dog. They were the same age, we raised them together. Our daughter was scheduled for surgery the following week and I couldn't bring myself to put him down right before she'd need him. So I had a talk with Jasper I told him I love him and he's been the best companion for my daughter and the family that I could ever hope for. But I needed him to do one more thing before he goes, and while he was making eye contact I told him I needed him to be strong and stick around until she was recovered, stay by her side, comfort her line you always have... He understood the mission, he was the best he could be and he was exactly what she needed at that time. It took her a little over a week to recover and on the day she felt good enough to continue life, we found him in the ground barely able to lift his head. His task was complete. We let him go that day.. So heartbreaking, even now as I'm writing this my eyes fill with tears thinking that he's gone..
